Beat Vine Weevil Before They Beat You!

Time to treat my bonsai for vine weevils. This is what I do every Spring and Autumn.

I've been blessed with both leaf cutter bees and vine weevils in abundance this year! The nasty weevils live in the rhodos and took down a bunch of seedlings last winter. Thankfully, I watched your early videos on vine weevils and have been treating with nematodes ever since!

@@SidsTreesI was happy to find your videos Sid. I've started treating my rhodos as well to reduce the population. Expensive - as you know lol, but worth it! All the trees will benefit - bonsai included!

I first saw this video just after it was posted and since then I have checked all my purchased plants. Fortunately I have been lucky and not been effected except for my latest acquisition of a Fuji Cherry from a garden centre. 14 of the little blighters in a 3 Ltr pot! Washed out the roots, sent them all to their maker! Thanks for the heads up, never too late!

Glad you found them. Beware though there may be eggs which are too small to see with the naked eye. Stay safe

@@SidsTrees Going to drench them with a Systemic to start with then consider Nematode treatment in a couple of months if I still have an issue!

You're lucky. Nothing worse than touching what looks like a healthy tree and it falling over because they have eaten all the roots. Treating like this twice a year seems to be working at keeping them at bay. Stay safe mate

i keep finding them in my hallway is there a way of stopping them coming in . im getting fed up with seeing the damn ugly things . they can only be sneaking in through the front door its a very busy house . ive no house plants so theyve not come in that way .

I'd you can find where they are breeding applying the nematodes is very effective as it kills them in their larval form. They must be attracted to something in the house but if you've no house plants I don't know what that would be. I guess it's smush, smush, smush. Eventually you might get them all. Good luck. It’s a constant battle with Mother Nature. I know you’ve been battling those boogers for some time. Ring the dinner bell for those nematodes. Yummy, grubs are on the menu. Good luck with the treatment. It’s always something. Thanks, keep growing

Thanks Matt. It's a battle. I'm going to be using nematodes twice a year from now on to try to keep them out. What's reall anoying is when you buy a new plant from somewhere only to find you've brought a new batch home. Aarrgh!!!! Stay safe.
