Very tasteful use of effects. None of the "cheater" stuff; just things to enhance the performance. And the performance was lit.

Please tell me you're not referring to Taras 😂 I mean I don't like it personally but it's not "cheating"
@DeemsTheMemes7 ай бұрын
Cheater stuff? You mean people who use like live audio changers/sliders to get different effects in loopstation? Cause I’m drawing a blank at what could be considered “cheating” in terms of beatbox performances.

@@Sam-uu2nx honestly I think Taras is one of the more Powerful beatboxers in terms of how loud his sounds are with no audio mixing. I also know that he has really nice control over how he speaks so it sounds like a filter in a way. I can’t say I’m too impressed with his recent content though. But then again it’s the same with Berywam too. It’s like they have to nerf themselves when they get too famous.

@@DeemsTheMemesI put it in quotes because it's more about what you're selling as the performance. Stuff like triggering samples (especially non-vocal ones like kick drum sounds) with foot switches and stuff. Or adding in such things in post. Or if you're selling it as a one man performance, self-sampling and looping would be verboten if you had built your whole image claiming something else. The reason it went in quotes is because all of these things have their place, but just in different contexts. It would be like if a drummer had a MIDI trigger and claimed to be playing everything himself versus if he had one and just used it for utility without trying to hide it for the sake of performance.

Iirc, the sound engineer Reeps normally works with is called Linden Jay

I’ll be honest as a beatboxer that was inspired by Reeps one years ago, (probably 13 by now) I love dubstep, grimey dn’b, tech house, bass house, riddim, tearout, moombah, slicer house, halftime drops, the darkest nittiest grittiest of the sound designers 😂. I love a good texture
@litscreek53617 ай бұрын
To me dubstep and riddim and tearout is a big inspiration to these guys especially ppl like, azel, vocodah, napom (probably trap nation 2012 inspired) Reeps, ze-de, ball-zee,

My enjoyment of beatbox is purely a love of the creative intuition of beatboxers being able to articulate their ideas through music, creating cultures and languages in a sense. But also I think riddim tech house dubstep takes a very creative mind to make something like that. I often compare epic dubstep and riddim tracks to new school classic music. No talking all emotions through the sound. And as a blue collar gun slinging American😂, I love riddim in the morning and not once do I think of it as less than beatbox, I feel they go hand in hand. But trap and rap, is well over done, there’s only 12 notes to a scale and nothing new has opened up under the sun, so ima keep listening to the differences in texture of the sound. The bounce and bop is nice, but it’s just rhythm at the end of the day.

I think the first person who inspired me was B-Art. All these beatboxers with there dark sort of energy and styles. B-art, Vocodah, and Reepsone. To be honest it was very rare that I went out of my way to listen to music before. But with all the beatbox content coming out especially after the wave of Vine shorts, I just can’t get enough. I know it hasn’t been that long since Vine died but around the end was when my beatbox related “journey” so to speak had begun.

Ever checked out Tom Thum, couldn't find it on your channel so not sure? He did a TEDx talk in Australia 10 years ago that was my introduction into modern beatboxing. He still makes content now but the TEDx is a nice intro

I don’t know if you’ve figured it out since making this video, but the trick to getting near Reeps’ throat bass is tongue positioning! Stick the tip of your tongue behind your bottom front teeth, and put the back of your tongue to the roof of your mouth (similar to some POH snare positions). Et voila!
