Anyone mention the fire emblem got for its 30th anniversary just a limited edition of the first game that sold out eminently and the first game localized for frickn 4 months until it went out of the e Shop forever...yes it isn't even close to being as big as Mario or Zelda, but it's still known and it's its 30th and not 35 anniversary (rounder number).
@bekkfxst3 жыл бұрын
I still REALLY don’t get why Nintendo decided to axe 2020’s anniversary celebrations in March. Making the G&W and physical release of 3D All-Stars limited production is whatever and even killing Mario 35 isn’t that big a deal, but I can’t fathom as to why they took 3D All-Stars and Shadow Dragon off the eShop. Like what’s the benefit of that? Being on the eShop means they don’t have to do any production and still get paid so their decision to take them off still perplexes me. Especially since, before, you could’ve made the argument that they’d replace it with new anniversary goodies, but now we know they aren’t doing anything for any other game anniversaries, so really what’s the point?

8:20 Of course I've beaten Zelda II! ...with save states on the Wii U. BUT! It's actually a super fun game once you remove the brutal punishment for dying. If you just drop a save state every few minutes so you can try again without repeating 90 minutes of gameplay, it's a great time! Highly recommend it on the NES Switch app so you can just rewind if something awful happens.
@brianramsay70563 жыл бұрын
I always hated that. You could get all the way to the end and if you died, you had to start all the way at the beginning castle where zelda was sleeping. You didn't have to play the entire game over, it saved your progress, but it just sucked working your way all the way back to the last castle, cause everytime you got there, you'd be damn near... "Unalive," again. I never knew there was a save progress thing for the Wii. Even the Gamecube version didn't have that yet.

My take is that you can't have a huge anniversary blowout every 5 years. Nintendo did a nice job with the 25th anniversary and the original Skyward Sword special edition, but this isn't the 50th anniversary or the 75th anniversary. Those are the milestones that deserve the hype, in my opinion. Additionally, Nintendo's "vault" material as well as their current time and resources are limited. Focusing on an overblown anniversary celebration every 5 years just isn't practical. I think the Game and Watch to commemorate the 35th anniversary is perfect.

Adding to that, they're still working on Breath of the Wild 2 which is a full focus level project.

Then why was Mario 35 bigger then? And they have working emulator in the Mario 3d all-stars and it was made by Nintendo of Europe, they could just release gamecube and n64 ports of games.

I would agree with this if they didn’t go so hard for Mario last year.

@@xograyce I remember a lot of people being disappointed with what Nintendo did for Mario's 35th last year. Of course I have no idea because I'm not Nintendo, but I would wager that the fact that Breath of the Wild 2 is in development might be part of the reason why they did not include any sort of Switch game like 3D All-Stars as part of the celebration. But like anything else, some will be happy with what you do, and others will not. To me, the complaining sounds very entitled.

The actor in the Link to the Past commercial at 10:12 is my co-worker's brother! That was a nice bit of trivia that came up when I mentioned Zelda at lunch. My co-worker just described it as a "goofy Zelda commercial" from the early 90s lol

The wind waker commercial that the guest didn't like was my favorite. When I first saw it, it gave me chills and lit a fire in me to want to go and save zelda then and there. Turns out it wasn't zelda you were saving but your sweet little sister lol.

I’d like to think this is a COVID thing. I mean we saw how it delayed Mario’s celebration. I wouldn’t doubt it if it made Zelda’s 35th a choice between getting BOTW II & AOC done or porting some older games and they made the call to just hit us with a Game & Watch.
@Shalyn-ln9tu3 жыл бұрын
I know people are like "you can't blame covid anymore", but you still can. The repercussions will take maybe 3 years max to recover. But they should have planned this at least 2 years ahead of time to make something for the 35th as Zelda is the biggest , next to Mario

Yes because ports of games where the resolution is higher and very small adjustments, is incredibly difficult to do.

@@daffyfable1983 bro when you’re trying to do everything they did for Mario in the middle of a pandemic, and trying to launch a new revision to your console; along with developing new games for both franchises. I think it’s more than easy to see there were too many projects they had to juggle. Yeah it could just be wishful thinking that oh they didn’t MEAN to disrespect the franchise. But on they other hand, I definitely still feel they did considering that they chose to let that fall by the wayside as opposed to delaying it, or scrapping some other big push. Nintendo was playing the numbers game and Zelda lost out. Regardless of whether the pandemic did or didn’t affect it, that’s what happened.

@@Shalyn-ln9tu Exactly. We can’t really know how these guys operate, but if there’s one particular team that handles general marketing then they have to shoulder the responsibility of making sure that a multitude of separate projects are going and completed by a set time table and that team may have been overloaded with all the freaking stickers, jeans and overalls that they needed to get out for Mario.
