What an absolutely amazing story, it truly draw me in and made my heart go out to you, Shane! I’m not going to lie, but I really felt for him when he was talking about the bullying and violent abuse he encountered at the hands of that cellmate. However, it’s really awesome to see him overcome these challenges and obstacles, and turn his life around for the better. He could’ve made excuses and never changed his life, but he didn’t. Instead, he has chosen to rise above all the negativity he endured and turned his life into a positive. I truly admire you, Shane, and I thank you, Paddo, for sharing his story with us, the public

I talk with Shane regularly, the media caused him hell when he ran for council. What happened to him is what most mainstream prisoners hate about screws. I have seen that same thing that happened to Shane in a number of West Australian prisons. They isolate prisobers into areas where they are highly vulnerable. Props to both of you lads, I've done 5 years in jails here in WA and the same stories apply the world over. For the work both of you are doing I have total admiration. It is extremely difficult expressing the emotions involved with jail. You make extremely strong bonds with others and share things that you would probably never talk about ever again. Great interview Nathan and love your work as always Shane 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 thnakyou to you both

As an ex screw I'm disgusted to hear how they allowed you to be treated. The dirty mongrels are there for everyone's safety, first and foremost. Not to judge people.. that's what a jury does. 🐾For drink driving/ evading? Never should of spent one day in jail 😡 What the he// is going on? Completely inappropriate behaviour by the guards, I believe there’s at least 1,000 plus serious breeches of inhumane conditions & treatment……. I’m absolutely shocked 😳 an “ offender” has already lost their freedom, that’s their punishment not brutal psychological & physical torture day after day after day…… I’m so happy you’ve managed to survive a literal he// taken your experience to benefit others & not hold onto hatred or vengeance…. You truly are all that a good & decent man should be, bravo to you sir!

Shane deserves compensation for all that happened to him in jail. That was some seriously disgusting violence that he endured. And the accusations and subsequent charges were all proven to be false. What a horror story. Thankfully he was able to turn the story around and create a better life for himself via education and his drive to serve others and help the youth.
