Beating God of War Ragnarok With No Upgrades

Top notch vid, as someone who’s also done this challenge (sort of), you’re 100% right in your assessment that the standard mob enemies are not fun to fight at level 1, I truly wish instead of making them damage sponges that spam unblockables, they upped the damage output and gave them yellow ring attacks. Even at level 1, the boss fights in this game are incredible, you still get one shotted by them but they’re balanced enough so that you can play aggressively so long as you memorize their attack patterns/parry timing.

I'd argue that since the spear is given to you at that level, if you don't upgrade it from that point on it's still useable

Yeah I debated this point but I enjoy suffering and wanted to make the challenge ever harder lol. Would 100% recommend using the spear to anyone attempting this though it would've saved me a lot of grief.

All weapons do the same amount of damage, regardless of level. Leveling up the axe, blades, and spear, individually boost certain character stats, so you could have used the spear. 19:04 You can avoid using the spear if you just chuck your axe continuously at him until you deal a certain amount of damage. 30:45 You're supposed to use the fire coming from the dragon to one-shot the enemies (especially the wyvern). 36:05 Did I miss something, or do you not allow yourself to use arrows? You can easily break elemetal shields from any enemy with a few sigil arrows. 36:33 There is indeed air above him Kudos for beating this very hard challenge! Still, if you want more suffering, you should beat the muspelheim gauntlet, the berserkers, and Gna, so essentially the side missions. I did this exact challenge (with a few differences), and beating these latter challenges is very fulfilling, and hard(er).

All good advice. The dragon did one shot enemies but I was never able to consistently get enemies positioned right in the dragon fire. Also totally was using arrows to break the elemental shields the einherjar had but idk if you mean shooting them at Odin when he had the elemental shields bc I don't think I used arrows as much for that part.

Huge respect for completing this challenge 🫡. Also enemies only level up in GMGOW once kratos hits them (you can attack them with your companion tho) so if you defeat enemies one by one or have good crowd control it’s not that bad. Also axe throw headshots and heavy attacks stop enemies levelling up.

Taking the enemies on one at a time is definitely key I just found it hard to NOT damage multiple when using chains/sometimes when they would alternate which one attacked. But definitely a good strat to not damage more than one at a time.

@@epiccakesgaming Yeah, the Blades of Chaos is most useful for crowd control, like damaging small groups of enemies at once. But the axe is most useful when dealing with enemies one by one. All the weapons have other uses tho.

I bet the game on give me god of war difficulty NG+ using Spartan armour and shield with level 0 weapon upgrades also used full 9 burdens one of them has a frozen effect if you roll and guard break makes you take damage and one shotted , beserkers have new move sets etc it’s so much worse but rewarding at end 😂 also didn’t use resurrection stones

Making a good thumbnail is honestly something that's super hard to get just right (and something I'm still trying to get better at). My advice is to start with an idea and make multiple versions of it - start on it as you're working on the video and don't put it off to the last thing. Thumbnails are very important. I usually go through like a couple dozen thumbnails from start to finish (most with minor tweaks until I decide on one to go with). I'd also say make something that's eye-catching and easily tells people what your video is about if they glance at it for literally 1 second. My advice for games is try to use photomode and get some cool pictures of the backgrounds/characters or maybe go for an action shot that looks sweet and include something related to the topic of the video (ie for a knife only challenge include a knife). You can always update your thumbnail if you decide to change it later and I find I often make small changes to improve stuff when I look at a thumbnail long enough lol, but good luck!

A part of my soul died trying to play this game. I finished everything in the base game except muspelheim and Valhalla because I just couldn't. I did everything in give me god of war, I wasted 150 hours of my life and worst feeling is, I feel that all of it was for nothing. I don't feel rewarded. The story was ok. Also I did this on pc and the game would crash around 4 times daily usually when I was almost done clearing a section of hard enemies. The husband and wife berserkers were my first hint of how bs the game was because that's the first time I encountered bosses with red healthbar that can one shot you. I did my best to max myself out and still struggled. Btw Idk about the dauntless shield I used the ground slam shield but you can actually block the dreki tail attack, maybe even parry with the dauntless shield. I didn't use it due to the bs input buffer delay even on a 4070ti super. F this game. Also this was my first time playing gowr. Gmgow on the first playthru is insane ik. Anyone hoping to buy the game, please don't.

@mr_biscuit2519 that's cute. The game is not hard, it's annoyingly hard. There's no actual challenge, just buffed enemies and clicking the same buttons. Combos are purely cosmetic against bosses. I found elden ring and black myth wukong more challenging and fun than this garbage. But sure if you wanna glaze the game, don't let me stop you.
