Here's a fun fact that you might not know about: You can actually SWAP rental Pokémon between passes, letting you "mix and match" for the team you want. It's such an arbitrary feature since there's only 6 passes, but I figured I might as well mention it because not a lot of people know about that.

This game didn't "give us" scale-to-size Pokemon. The gen 1 and 2 models were reworked from Stadium, which is why Machop looks "funky." The gen 3 models were taken mostly unchanged from Colosseum/XD. Stadium gave us scale-to-size Pokemon and its sequels kept that trend.

Mysteral gets a lot stronger every time you beat him to the point where he is running all legendaries easily the hardest boss in Pokemon history

You can swap Pokemon between the rental passes freely after you've unlocked them. In my opinion the absolute best combination of Rental Pokemon is Daisy's Sneasel, Lopunny and Golbat, Natalie's Seadra, Joel's Machoke and Cindy's Charmeleon Sneasel is one of the fastest Pokemon in the dex at this point which really helps because the Rental Pokemon have really bad EVs and IVs and a lot of enemy trainers will have good or perfect EVs and IVs so Sneasel will outspeed so many Pokemon that the other Rental Pokemon just physically can not do. Sneasel also comes with a combination of Focus Sash and Counter which allows Sneasel to at least trade. Golbat is the only Pokemon in the Rental passes that has a pivot ability in U-Turn, combined with a fantastic type combination with a ton of resists and a Lum Berry and a good Speed stat makes Golbat an incredible pivot Lopunny has Mirror Coat and that's really it. In the later fights you're always on the backfoot and can't fight fair Seadra has a combination of Sniper, Scope Lens and Focus Energy. If you can get a turn of setup Seadra has 100% crit chance Machoke has No Guard Dynamic Punch Fire types are really good in PBR specifically because there are a lot of Bug, Steel and Grass types. Cindy's starter Pokemon are better than Nate's because Cindy's come with a 10% boosting item of their respective type while Nate's come with a Plate of their coverage move. The alternative Fire type is Joel's Camerupt and Camerupt is just a bad Pokemon so Cindy's Charmeleon is the best Fire type. In the post game you can keep challenging Gateway Colosseum to level it up and when you win battles you have the opportunity to trade a Pokemon from a Rental Pass onto your team permanently. These Pokemon have perfect IVs and EVs and pretty solid movesets too. When you get to level 7 or 8 you can start to encounter pretty much all non legendary Pokemon including pseudos like Salamence and Garchomp and that's how you beat the Post Game of Battle Revolution without transferring from a DS game.

I remember as a kid getting stuck on the level where you spin a wheel and randomly get your own Pokémon or the shitty AI’s and I just gave up because it kept giving the AI my Pokémon XD

If you swap around the rental passes you can get the super team of Monferno Haunter Snesal Muk Hypno Dugtrio Between those 6 the game is beatable with little struggle

I remember hating the announcer's voice so much in this game, that i had to mute it. I'm only 3 minutes in, and I'm already sick of hearing his sarcastic ass speak.

I know I’m late but believe it or not there a way to get more pokemon than what’s in the 6 passes you get them through trade battles unlocked durning part 2 of battle mode once you get all passes you can get a bunch of much more viable Pokémon through trade battles increasing the number of rentals available from like 36 to a whopping 322 or something like that but to get the good goods you gotta get a high win streak that unlock rank 7-9 pokemon who are actually competitive pokemon with competitive move sets and there partially IVed with viable item options like focus stash’s life orbs and choice items.

I remember getting extremely salty and frustrated that I kept losing and I never realized you could transfer Pokémon from Diamond or Pearl I always used rental passes.

You can unlock the rental passes by using them in the Gateway Colosseum and beating the Colosseum Leader. As you progress through the game more will be available to use at the Colosseum, I believe there's a total of 6 Rental Passes in the game.
