Ireland had never won a test match in New Zealand. In 2022 they embarked on a 5 game which included 3 international matches. They made history. This is the story of the Tour. #teamofus

They should make this into an all access documentary like what they do for The Lions Tour....and include all 3 Test games,would be a great Christmas Gift from the Wife. In fairness as Andy Farell said it himself this may never be achieved for some time again and really it had to be acknowledged as one of the greatest Triumphs in international rugby history.

An English perspective. Ireland played what was, for me, one of the best performances that I can remember against NZ in that final test. When England beat NZ at the last World Cup, they were very good but I feel that the Irish performance was significantly better. The ability of the forwards to play with the ball and take part in back play moves - as opposed to the bash up front - was outstanding. The set plays by the backs was extremely good but so was their ability to improvise. That mix of brain and practice was possibly the best that I can recall. I don’t know what the draw is for the RWC but any game involving Ireland, SA and NZ will be something not to miss. I didn’t know how Farrell would work out as a head coach but clearly he is a top man; very sad that he is now tied to Ireland until 2025 as I can see him as the best Englishman to replace EJ. Having said that, much credit must go to the coaches at Leinster because they provide the solid base upon which AF can build - one of the major benefits in having just 2 or 3 provinces/clubs feeding into the national side. They clearly see Carberry as the man to replace Sexton. He may well be the best man to slot into No. 10 but I’ve not seen him play at anything like the level that JS does. Of course, I want England to win the RWC - but I also want to be 20 again, win the lottery and play then like I know I could have. None of those are going to happen. It’s Sexton’s final chance and I hope that he bows out in the right match to fit his contribution over the years
@woohoohaha76072 жыл бұрын
Thanks from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪🇪🇺👍
@theItalianshamrock2 жыл бұрын
Carberry is good but definitely not on Sexton's level. Which sucks because Ireland wants to win games so they use Sexton a ton causing more injuries and less playing time for carberry to grow into the 10 spot when sexton retires
@wolftickets40392 жыл бұрын
ireland played a better style of rugby. england out muscled nz with there big forwards. but you wont beat south africa with that style. your not going to out muscle the boks they have always produced big physical forwards some of the best in rugby. england has to change there style when they play the boks trying to out muscle them in the forwards is suicide
@theofarmmanager2672 жыл бұрын
@@wolftickets4039 I pretty much agree with you except that, for me, the main weapon that England employed so well against the ABs in the semi final was the accurate rush defence. Out muscling to a degree but really just putting pressure on the oppo and denying them time to make sensible decisions. I think that will still be part of a good game plan against the Boks but England have to put together much better attack moves than I’ve seen over the last few years. In other words, that rush defence is great but you can’t rely upon defence alone to beat any of the top sides - you have to have attack plans as well as defence plans. Really, all I’ve seen from England recently are variations on the territory kick chase.
@wolftickets40392 жыл бұрын
@@theofarmmanager267 yep the rush defence was great. but we all so got competely out muscled in the forwards. which slowed the ball down for our backs. we rely on good fast ball to give our backs space. for that to happen our forwards have to get over the advantage line. so we get good fast ball at the rucks. but we got hammered england piled numbers in to the rucks and pushed us back all day. we got hammered every time we hit it up. that rush defence doesnt work so well if you are going forward and breaking through the defensive line

Jesus said, "I tell you the truth no one will see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me." For God so loved the world that He give His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the World through Him. For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, and All who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. " If you want to be sure of Heaven and avoid the other place below say the following prayer sincerely from your heart." Lord Jesus I repent and am sorry for my sins forgive me. I forgive all who have offended me. Come into my heart and save me. I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and baptise me with your Holy Spirit. Fulfill your plan and purpose in my life. "I recommend you read John's Gospel especially chapter 3.Gbu.John 3v3v22,John 14v6.

We're getting used to losing now. Personally, I think rugby has had its day in NZ. With more and more kids leaving the sport here, head injuries and the consequences of those later down the line in life now becoming more fully understood, more parents here are discouraging their kids from playing rugby so I think any future Richie McCaw or Dan Carter will be playing another sport rather than rugby. Our geographical location means tv rights are hard to get as so few people watch in our time zone so money will not be easy to find, plus a small population to choose from. Demography and geography working against us now really. I think the days of consistent AB dominance are over for good, we'll have a good team now and then but the writings been on the wall since the last Lions tour in 2017.

Revisiting this after World Cup 2023 disappointment and midway through 2024 Six Nations campaign. At time of writing Ireland have 32 Wins in 34 matches and yet the whole world thinks we flopped at the World Cup. Still I think we are the best team in the world due to our consistency. After all we beat SA in RWC group stages. I am licking my lips at the summer tour to South Africa! What a truly remarkable coach Andy Farrell is and deservedly named B&I Lions head coach for 2025.
@theulsterexpat2 жыл бұрын
great vignette! Last of the proper tours, given the updated format for the game going forward. As said below, I hope this is made into a full length documentary as a fitting tribute to such a colossal achievement. I had my doubts about Andy Farrell, coming off the back of Joe Schmidt, however I stand very much corrected, and it seems he is coaches a far more dynamic and fluid attacking style which is more attractive to watch. I still think we will face a significant challenge to better a QF finish at the RWC, but this team is surely the best Ireland have ever had so we are in the best position possible given our tough draw

What makes me hopeful is that though the All blacks were very poor at time and relied on individual brilliance rather a cohesive team play, they still took their chances but Ireland, when on it are unstoppable and have still work to do which gives me hope for The WC. I'm not saying we will win the WC, I'm not delusional but I just want the best WC than the previous ones and for other nations to stop telling us that we bottles it again at a WC. I, in a way, hate being Number 1 in the world as that hasn't sat with us in the past

@@helenaville5939 the only consolation is that our style of play has evloved. Johnny doesn't take it up to the line so much. Its almost like since we beat the all blacks in Chicago its becoming normal to beat them its like we became their weak-link, Maybe the world cup could be the same. once we get to a final of a world cup maybe the hoodoo will be over.. just like what happened once we done over the all blacks after 114years.. Think in 2023 its about time Ireland end the World cup Hoodoo and reach a semi or final with a team like this a final should be on the cards winning it is another story..
