BeatIt Test: Sonor AQ2 Stage Drum Kit

Young and promising female drummer out of Poland, Wiktoria Jakubowska, performs a test of a Sonor AQ2 Stage kit for en.beatit.tv/ - the drummers' website.

1. The test
The test was carried out in our own recording facility. The kit is comprised of two rack toms, a floor tom, a snare and a kick drum, which were fitted with Remo UT heads. During the test, Wiktoria Jakubowska also used the following cymbals: 18″ Sabian AA Sick Hi-hat, 18″ Sabian HH O-Zone Crash, 19″ Sabian HHX Fierce Crash, 12″ Sabian Chopper Disc. Our guest performed a beat to the Don Guralesko & Matheo track titled “Otoczony oceanem” (Surrounded By The Ocean).

Love the fact that she used all diffrent types of techniques, styles, and different drumsticks, mallets, and brushes. Excellent!

Waaaaay too much reverb and EQ. That's NOT how these drums sound when sitting behind the kit.

the 10 & 12 need a bit more separation in pitch.. These are nice sounding drums, HOWEVER, at that price point, they are competing within a few hundred $$ against Pearl Masters, Tama SC b/b, Gretsch Renown, Ludwig Keystone, Yamaha Live Custom, Mapex Saturn.. They seem to all have superior finishes and mounts than this Sonor AQ2 series. Love Sonor, don't get me wrong. But not ready to say it's a great deal.

checked those prices....would make sense if you already had a good snare...but most of those kits are between 1500-1700 as comparable 4 piece kits...add on a $250 to $300 snare and now your in a completely new price bracket...( especially the Yammie's...they're a bit higher)...plus...Sonor does also offer one wrap finish at a discount of about $300 less on this kit. ( If you're just into the sound or don't mind white pearl...this kit is right about $1000)....about half the cost of those kits with a proper snare. Not bad.

I got this kit shipped for $900, none of those kits you mentioned can be bought for anywhere near $900 let alone with a snare included

Err, why am I listening to acres of hi-hat and snare before hearing the full kit. Got bored, moved on.
