My fantasy 71 album would have a Revolution 9 style freakout track with John and Paul hurling insults at each other. They get it out of their systems and carry on being The Beatles. But since that doesn't exist, I'd go for your track listing.

I always felt like "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End" sounds more like the McCartney solo album than Beatles.

Well yeah… that is a large chunk of side 2. McCartney does ALL the singing on The End too. McCartney was on fire for Abbey Road. So was Harrison. Lennon was coked up.

I think you'll find that people who point out TO A BEATLES CHANNEL that Abbey Road was recorded after Let It Be went round twice when the pedentary was being dished out. For the '71 album its good to see Monkberry Moon Delight included; a song that has only grown in stature for me over the years - a companion piece to Hey Bulldog in many ways.

I'm sure there's tons of stuff i don't know (or have forgotten) about the Beatles. That wasn't one of them. Also, if anyone wants to learn about the Beatles... i'm NOT your guy... Andrew Dixon is. I just like chatting shit and 'have a laugh' about a band we all love. I love Monkberry Moon Delight! I felt it needed to be on this as it needed a McCartney rocker. It was this or Smile Away.

Thing is, you can create a more credible 1970/1971 album from the last meeting they recorded (for Ringo) where John suggested all three main songwriters get an equal share, with Ringo getting 1 or 2 songs. Paul was most against this, so no guarantee that arrangement would have gone through, but it came from John and it was his band. You can create a new album from watching their process from demo to finished product. Most of the songs demoed became recorded, as we know the number of songs would have reached between 12-14. And also, they would have included their best for the Beatles albums and left the rest for their solos, so a fantasy album would also include a reworking of what was released (ATMP, John's first solo). Similar to I Me Mine was not going to go on ATMP because George was called in 4 months before recording for ATMP to work on I Me Mine. Anyway, inconsequential and 100% impossibility of changing the situation, just a bit of fun. But at least you can base it in reality to some degree.

I used to think Jealous Guy was overrated. But since learning it about Paul McCartney (apparently) the song carries a different meaning to it now. I love it BUT I have to say, I prefer the version where he hums at the end (rather than whistle).

Love your vids Greedo and meant to say this last time. I think you did a good job on the winter '70 fantasy LP. I also personally think that The Beatles would have put a few of their better songs on LIB had they been together as there are some weak tunes on there (mainly John's). This would have given you scope for another 3/4 songs to have included on fantasy LIB and instant Karma! records. Great channel mate! :}

@@dinnerwithgreedo I think the basic track was even recorded in 1970 around the time of the All things Must Pass sessions , because I remember a version with George singing lead along with more prominent “ Hare Krishna backing vocals “ on a bootleg from these sessions . It had tracks like Going down to Golders Green etc on it .

Many of John and George's solo albums all but Paul played on. John was just 40 when he was murdered and I think had that awful tragedy not taken place they would have done some one off shows or maybe a single. If John was alive in 1985 during the Live Aid concerts it is hard for me to imagine (no pun intended) the four Beatles would not have done a couple sets of classic Beatles songs. Just speculation on my part but we can never know what might have been.

Imagination Side One: Big Barn Bed (Ram outtake,) Run of The Mill, I'll Still Love You (early 70's George outtake he reluctantly let Ringo do, here it would be a George and Ringo duet,) Oh My Love, My Imagination (1969 Get Back Jam, here it would incorporate some of the Ram outtake jam Rode All Night and John's I Don't Wanna Be a Soldier.) Side Two: Uncle Albert, Imagine (Done like the sparser Take 1 version,) Monkberry Moon Delight (John said he liked this one,) Be Here Now (from '72 but apparently George was working on it in '71,) A Case of The Blues (demoed by John in '68, I think it was very briefly considered for The Beatles,) Long Haired Lady.

Wasn't 'How Do You Sleep' recorded in '71? Obvs, a McCartney diss track wouldn't have appeared on a Beatles album, but forget the lyrics, feel the music.... And the answer is meat. Am I doing this right?

I would put Oh Woman Oh Why on there somewhere. It's one of Paul's best songs. Certainly better than Dear Boy. I remember hearing it on the radio when it first came out and I was 13. They played it more than the A side, Another Day, for awhile. I liked both sides but the B side was the one that got me to go out and buy the single. I'm curious as to how you're going to come up with a song list for '72. John's album was terrible, I can't bear to listen to anything on it. Paul had the Wildlife album which I've never managed to get to the end of. I guess you could put It Don't Come Easy, Jealous Guy and? My choice would be to call it Kreene-Akrore and put a 20 minute version of that track on side two. I like the version on McCartney but I'd like to hear Ringo on drums and have dueling guitar solos from the other three. Then there are more good Harrison songs from All Things Must Pass. I would choose Apple Scruffs and The Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp. Then you could put Oh Woman Oh Why and then you'd still need a couple more Lennon songs to put on there. Since it was a slow period for him I'd go back to POB and put Look At Me on it. I'm sure you will come up with something completely different but that's to be expected. Cheers!
@dinnerwithgreedo
@dinnerwithgreedo Ай бұрын
It Don’t Come Easy is on this album. The 1972 album is indeed a tough one to make. Lennon was the only one to release an album WHICH I only liked two songs off and I DEFINITELY can’t use one of them! I thought about including Oh Woman Oh Why, but whereas I really do like it, there’s no way that’d make an album track. That’s a B-Side all the way. Dear Boy (in my opinion) is far better and I think the Beatles would’ve enjoyed recording the harmonies. That said, Paul may have finished the bloody lyrics properly though, ay.

@@dinnerwithgreedo There is one I like off of STINY and I'm listening to it right now. It's called Well (Baby Please Don't Go). It's a cover but it's pretty good. I forgot that you put It Don't Come Easy on the '71 album but didn't Ringo put out Back Off Bugaloo in '72? That was a good one. I think Attica State would be too topical to put on a Beatles album and Revolution it ain't. Yesterday I put together my favorite John Lennon album by making a playlist. It has 14 songs, the best ones from all his albums and singles. At least my favorites anyway.
