i love this song! It has a great 50s bass line to it. What amazes me to this day was how did paul know the bass line back in the day?...tabs for songs were impossible to get and even i cant do it by ear and i play bass. Thats talent!

The way Paul sings the first word cracks me up. No power, breathy and (understandably) audibly nervous

Yes, and he obviously didn't have the confidence to use his own voice at this point, so opted for the cod Elvis approach. He soon shook that off though, as evidenced on the Please Please Me album. The Applejacks version of this song is excellent and has everything Paul was probably aiming for, but could not quite reach at the time.

Rick already has a tiny flat sound but I use to cut bass and middle a bit. Gretsch has more punch so I use more middle and treble on it...and also raise the presence/gain a bit. Hofner has a great unique sound and I just compress it (Puigchild 660).

@@trout3685 I hear tones E and C# at the end, but his chord is like E, as you say, and seems that his pinky is playing C#, then it is maybe the Bmaj7 chord. Or just simply A major at 12th fret. I hope this helps.

@@ancientocc5000 maybe its the A and the E together that makes it sound like that idk
@ancientocc5000 Жыл бұрын
@@trout3685 Maybe, but plain E over A is more sounds like a clashing of tones than harmony. I believe that he is using his index and little finger to play E and C#, which is like A major.
