my favorite part about your videos: you teach how to play EXACTLY what the song is...not the freaky arrangements people make up which incorporate the the vocals into notes...i hateee those. thanks so much!!

the line - "sleep pretty darling, do not cry" on the word "cry", instead of playing D-E-F and A with the low D octave, I prefer to play A-E and D with the D octave, bringing the E down to a D and finally a C (to make an F chord). It's less dissonant, seems to follow the orchestration a little better, and I think it's what Sir Paul played live when I saw him at Yankee Stadium. Great tutorial though, thanks so much!

Diffidently one of your better teachings. I dont read music or anything but Ive sort of learned and so sometimes I think you go a little fast in your video switch I understand since your trying to make it easier by putting it all in one video instead of two parts. But sometimes you are a little hard to follow and go fast But this video was ALOT better than some of your others;)

Thank you very much. After playing guitar for 2 years and working on my theory the transition to piano is made with delightfully surprising ease. Not undue to your tutorials. Not at all! Thank you!
@-amitkalderon12257 жыл бұрын
Nils I'm doing that transition exactly right now. I also played a violin for 5 years so I got the theory, but can you tell me how was the transition for you? Is it just about learning the chords well and then I could play most songs?
@nils85847 жыл бұрын
Amit Kalderon Yes, I just learned to play chords in a basic way on piano (like in the case of C = C G C E G C) and started to sing along with songs (mostly beatles ;)) I make a lotta mistakes untill I don't anymore. My ears just learn. Try different inversions of chords (In the case of C = E G C, G C E, and of course C E G) Mess around with the bassline, although in the beginning I focussed on the right hand. Left hand will come. I found Lady Madonna to be a cool piece to get a swing in the left hand. You can use this swing in may songs ofcourse. But I'd say just look up chords like you do for guitar and play, make mistakes, listen for what sounds nice to you. And, when you learn new things from songs, like the octave swing bass line in lady madonna, try to apply it to another song or chord structure. This way you make them your own. Have fun playing!!
@-amitkalderon12257 жыл бұрын
Nils Thank you so much for the long and detailed comment. It's very useful. I believe i'll also play mostly Beatles and some Queen, so I'll take everything you said into count. Thanks a lot!

British? You've been watching too many movies, my friend, in which English characters sound like well spoken Americans (they talk like Frasier Crane). Oh and I can't thank you enough for these vids, John. I only discovered Abbey Road last year and only decided to seriously improve my piano skills this year. As if by magic you've brought them both together. Thank you!
@javiervillarroel605714 жыл бұрын
thanks man, i really i can learn to play piano with your videos..!!
@beatlessteve10108 жыл бұрын
Yes sir it is indeed there, but it was weird because I've replayed this video hundreds of times and then all of the sudden there was no sound, so the next obvious thing to do is play a different video and see if there is sound, and sure enough there was sound on all the other videos, and that's what through me for a loop. And In the end (no Beatles pun intended), I had somehow changed my Realtek sound driver setting, which because this was a mono recording , it didn't play the audio. Thanks!
@flymusicguy12 жыл бұрын
I learned just from watching the demo in the beginning. =D Thanks John!
@glendagable16 жыл бұрын
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!I can do this but not from sheet music { I 'm really happy you teach this way. I was just going to ask this but found the answer after checking out your channel page: Do you have any DVDs of your video lessons available for purchase? A: No, I do everything for free right here. I really believe that music should be shared and learned by everyone who wants to play. If my videos add to your musical enjoyment or help you to become a better musician, then it's worth it for me.

Try leaving the right hand rhythmical pattern unchanged as in the verse at the chorus while adjusting only the bass part's beat, it's easy to do and sounds great. I should know, I've finished covering this one in November. I'm going to record it next, so perhaps you'll feel the difference. :)
