It proves that as great as George Martin was he was NOT what made the Beatles great.
@rmlectronicsuk24104 жыл бұрын
Amber Holmes-Dodge Unfortunately the Beatles needed musicians to interpret their work. George latched on to this and it was he who “wrote” the songs as he was a musician. John Paul George and Ringo were just singers. You could whistle a tune today of anything you want but that doesn’t make you a musician tomorrow. Elton John is another example. He’s not a musician. Those around him are the musicians. Same with Geo Martin. He was the musician for the Beatles! A lot of people idolise “the Product” but have no idea what goes in to making that “Product”. To this day, Paul McCartney admits that he “doesn’t know what the black dots mean”! Says it all.

Another one was Penny Lane, which I presented to our music teacher, who was a real slouch in English, thinking it was about a slot machine. For some reason he believed "lane" meaning "luck", so "penny luck". That's why it says in the second verse: "it's a clean machine" 😂 😂 😂 Unfortunately none of my school mates dug the unintentional gag \_(")_/

This song hit home personally for me. My older sister who had a very turmoutuous and sometimes violent relationship with my father, threatened my parents that as soon as she turned 18, she'd be leaving home. My Sister kept her word, she left on her Birthday. I remember when my father and mother came home, they were frantic and upset, they couldn't believe it. One day a few years later, I was playing "She's leaving home" in our Basement. My mother who walked by to do laundry, stopped dead in her track, hearing these lyric's in this song. She looked visibly confused and upset. There was a lot of tragedy and dysfunction in my family growing up, and this song highlighted our reality. My older sister is now 69, an old woman who's life was marred with drug addiction, and severe mental illness. Both my parents are dead and gone. Whenever I hear this song, I still cry.

Todo el tema es hermoso, las armonias vocales excelentes de Maccartney y Lennon, los arreglos de cuerdas, la linea melodica etc...una belleza de canción con un tono triste, melancolico pero hermoso.

This is astonishing. Genius. I am so glad I stumbled upon it. As others have said, when I was a kid I related to the girl. Now I am a parent....

I’m convinced that there is nothing wrong with The Beatles, and their perfection only becomes more evident the closer they are listened to. This recording makes me so happy!

The Beatles genius hit on every level. Unsurpassed song writing. Innovative and ground breaking stylistic and recording changes. Flawless execution. Vocal harmonies that are hard to describe with words let alone create. The Beatles wrote the equivalent of the pop music bible in roughly seven years. God had his hand in this. No doubt about it. Only nature has this level of perfection.

I first heard this album from my brother's collection in 1970 when I was in kindergarten. This song made me choke up and cry even at that age. It seem so sad and the arrangement really painted a picture that spoke to me, even in my young mind, unable to understand the deeper implications.

"She's Leaving Home" is an interesting song indeed. It's a bit maudlin & pessimistic on one hand; on the other, I love the characterization of the parents' hypocrisy. The mother personalizes her daughter's desperation and makes it all about herself: "How could she treat us so thoughtlessly? / How could she do this to me?" Then it is followed with, "We never thought of ourselves / Never a thought for ourselves" Ha! Great commentary on the kind of parental selfishness that undoubtedly alienated the girl in the first place, sorta like "Parents- take note."
