Hi. My Beatles vinyl and cd collection is a bit small too, but "meaty" as it has a few of the box sets like the Blue Box for vinyl and the Beatles in Mono cds; I know you've been away for awhile, hope you're alright and looking forward to your return with great videos.

Ah, sir Paul. Forever my favorite since I was a wee lad. Love Paul's solo work and would take Wings over The Beatles any day. Band on the Run (spun earlier) and London Town (spinning now) are two of desert island picks. To this day, the guy is a freaking fountain of creativity. May we both be as full of energy and idea (and cash) at 70. Shit, I'm 36 and tired! Thanks again for watching, go spin some Fab four! - Lj

I remember sitting on my aunt's couch as a kid while my cousin Janis put on Rubber Soul. I used to listen to it over and over and over, I knew thatr album word for word by the time I was eight years old. My recollection also goes back to the White Album when that was released. I don't remember who gave me my original copy but I also memorized that word for word. I did get a replacement original before I was a teen and wore that one out as well. I still have both copies here. Desmond/Boston

I did get the box but have yet to open it. I was at a friends house waiting for his to arrive and we opened it. He had already bought a number of the LPs individually so the sound was very good. The book included in the box is almost worth the price of the box itself. Amazing attention to detail and beautifully pressed! Holiday was fu and busy with lots of kids running around. Time to relax! Hope your holiday was fun! Gary.

Fascinating that their most difficult album to make is your favorite. They spent half the time playing those old favorites just to play something, instead of working on new tunes and inviting friction. A former neighbor of mine was a friend of G. Harrison at the time, and actually spent time in that studio while they were filming and recording. Surreal. The Hey Jude album? I swapped a few records for that one years ago. Love it!

Thanks for checkin' this out. Definitely an onslaught of differentiators and pressings in the Beatles catalog like no other. Seriously, its almost best for a casual fan to just buy the shiny new reissues. Had they been available when I started collecting, I'd have gone that way! The album behind the jacket is just preference and how I store them. Quick easy access to the vinyl without having to handle the jacket too much. Glad you enjoyed, you're a trooper if you watched the while thing! - Lj

Thanks Laura, for checkin' this out. Yeap, still just a casual fan but after collecting for a quite awhile, they do eventually show up in nice condition one by one and I'd pick them up when they did. With all the new reissues out, I'd think the price of the originals or later 70's reissues would come down quite a bit and may make them a little easier to score for a good price than they've been for years. You'll have them soon enough, hang in there! - Lj

Thanks Keith, glad you enjoyed. I'm happy to do a Bowie post. I'll add it to the list and try to have something up soon. Believe at this point I'm only missing a couple. Hey Rob. What a great memory from Rubber Soul. Your story is half of the reason I obliged this request because it took an awful long time to film and put together. All I wanted in return was some cool new tips I hadn't read or heard before (like your Sgt Pepper inner-sleeve comment) and the great memories people have attached to these albums. You came through on both effortlessly as always. I'd love to see those original copies one day, if only they could talk. - Lj/HadABarrelInTheMarketPlace

See? A great tip. The pink swirl inner-sleeve is still inside the mono copy and in nice shape. It took quite a few copies over time to find one that still had it intact. That would have been a good candidate for Duane's "inners for winners" contest! I remember reading the apple had ripened comment years ago but had forgotten about it. Thanks for bringing it back to mind! I don't usually do the mono/stereo wars but the differences in these recordings are impossible to avoid. - Lj/MakeMineMono

Fantastic comment John and thanks for watching through this slightly longer than hoped post. Being a tremendous fan of Wings, I couldn't agree more. If one must select a favorite Beatle, mine has always been Sir Paul. His Wings output is essential and Band on the Run (along with London Town) would accompany me to the oft eluded desert island. The UK /US pressing differences are maddening at best and Rubber Soul...a fine choice. Hope all are keeping well, great to hear from you! - Lj

Fascinating comment, thanks for sharing! Born in '76, I've had the luxury of time and parental influence in choosing my favorite Beatles album. That said, I've always gravitated towards the later material and Let it Be has always been the one that's gotten the most stereo time. I'm just engulfed by it. It truly is amazing as you pointed out that it was in fact the one that was the least cohesively created! Thanks again for watching and sharing, appreciate the comment! - Lj

I've had every reason to believe the 2nd copy of Introducing was a fake fro the second I laid eyes on it. At the end of the day, it was very inexpensive and NM. Add the fake to it, and I just wanted it even more. For what its worth, we both noticed the same inconsistency with the text placement relative to the spindle hole. Either way, it's a piece of history and just goes to show how far people will go! Thanks for watching and the fantastic comment! - Lj

I'm a Beatle fanatic record collector and can tell unequivocally that your stereo Introducing...on Vee-Jay is a 70's reproduction.I've seen 100o's on Ebay claiming to be the real deal but have only spotted 2 authentic copies. My bid of $5,000 didn't win it.....One last thing, Someday folks are going to wake up and realize just how hard it is to find those original 67 pressings in near mint condition!!! It only took me 20 years to get everyone of them in the stated condition!!!
@BioCYTE110 жыл бұрын
Merely a casual fan, and I believe I mentioned this in the video, I had no preconceived notion or concern that the copy of Introducing was authentic. To be honest, it it were, i'd most likely sell it to someone that would appreciate it far more than I would. I'm sure hunting down near mint original copies is a herculean effort, all of these are in very nice condition and like yours, they didn't come over night. It's been one here, one there over the years and I haven't paid more than $1-2 for any of them. I see them everywhere now that the vinyl boom is in full swing for $20+/ea in absolutely terrible condition. Blows my mind that anyone would pay that for them in that shape. Thanks for checkin' this out. - Lj

+Desoxyn Man I was going to tell him the same thing, but back-tracked the comments since I knew somebody else would have noticed it too. I have an original mono feb /.march 64 vee-jay pressing. Of course they pressed in stops and starts as Capitol was taking them to court which lead to so many variants. I don't know what mine is really worth though, since I just got it yesterday. Just read the divergence on UK and US releases of Beatles albums and the first album to have the same track listing in the UK and US is Sgt Pepper. The Beatles hated the US Versions, so it was little surprise when they were finally released on CD they decided on the UK releases, and have the only US release being Magical Mystery Tour.

I am so thankful that Decca turned the Beatles down. George Harrison was instrumental in convincing Mike Smith to sign the 'Rolling Stones" as the Stones failed their audition test like the Beatles did. I only wish EMI or HMV (RCA) had signed them. Can you imagine the Beatles on those horrible "London" releases. It is my theory that if Decca had signed the Beatles, Pete Best would still be there. The first real stereo album would be "Sgt. Pepper" and the "White" album would be reduced to 9 songs with "Hey Jude" included. All the remaining tracks (like the 'Beggars Banquet" sessions) would still be unreleased to this day. There would be no "Anthology" or "BBC" releases.

+BioCYTE1 Hi, your Introducing The Beatles that has a STEREOPHONIC banner on top and has Love Me Do/PS I Love You is a counterfeit. VJ Records has never ever legitimately pressed with the spindle hole between Introducing The Beatles and The Beatles. Both album title and artist name should only be above the spindle hole. Also no counterfeit Introducing The Beatles is in stereo - they are all in mono no matter what the jacket says.
@bpabustan8 жыл бұрын
+matt S I think it was more or less destiny that The Beatles is to be in (or what used to be) EMI. It has to be said that at least George Martin was very considerate to at least try to make stereo mixes of every Beatles album. Some EMI artists that were colleagues of the Beatles were not so priviledged either. Good thing Dick Rowe turned them down. But then (just for curiosity's sake) what would happen if The Beatles were signed to PYE? Aside from none of their records will be in stereo?
@bigbadm18 жыл бұрын
+bpabustan EE-Gad! I don't have any records on PYE. But I do have songs on Top 40 releases that originally came out on PYE.

The studio albums, up until recently with the reissues, have been really tricky to track down in nice shape for non-Beatlemaniac friendly prices. It's taken awhile. Sounds like you have a pretty solid collection going yourself! As far as where I buy, its really a combination of record stores (never Beatles though, too pricey), Goodwill, garage sales, Discogs, eBay (not too often, too pricey), etc. The comps will come your way, hang in there and thanks for watching! - Lj

You have a great collection Lj! For someone who is a casual fan, your research is and dating of your pressings is very educational. There are so many variants. Hey man, as a Beatles collector it goes without saying I'm absolutely drooling over your collection! I don't have many US pressings in my collection although I'd love to find some, over here record stores think they can stick ridiculous prices on them because they kinda figure Beatles collectors will just snap them up! Anyway, if you have any spares or extras laying around it would be great to set up a trade of some sorts. Maybe UK for US? I couldn't care a less about first pressings! Hit me up!

Shall do man! I'm making a video tomorrow showing my collection so if you notice anything I don't have and you have an extra copy that would be fantastic!
