This is the kind of video I was looking for. I was thinking of getting one of these and you really showed me what this thing can do. I had an old MK1 and I loved it. I just seen one of these at the pawn shop and I think I will go back and get it now. Thanks!!!

I am very happy to say that I own one of these bad boys. Definitely one of the best things I've owned, once you learn your way around the machine, you can do so much with it, it still surprises me. :)

This video was the definite reason why i bought a EMX-1 last weekend. I just recognized that you made the second demosong included with the EMX-1. Great!

I think it really depends on what you want. The MX has a synth built in and all preprogrammed drum parts (I think). The SX doesn't have a synth, has fewer drum parts preloaded, but is sample based so you can load your own drum parts and your own longer samples for melody, etc.

I have one of these and they are awesome. The Valves are what get the fat sounds. You need to use them loads as its easy to forget the functions. But once you get into the functions you can do almost anything with them. I plugged it into a £5k Yamaha Clarinova and it just sounded awesome.

@moreausylvain I agree, I pref analog over digi, but you still get a little analog warmth with those vacuum tubes. I own one of these, and it's pretty awesome sounding, depending what kind of tube you put in it.

I wanted to use it as a drum machine to accompaign me while learning to play guitar, but I think now I will dedicate some time to learn to play this to!

They are about $500.00 in the US. Most top end music stores carry them. I've only played around with a demo model (I play guitar up until now) and they are fun. I would say that pretty much anyone could use it, but you have to really learn the intricacies of the product to make some stellar music. But then again, isn't that half the fun?
@slackdave14 жыл бұрын
Nice skills!! I'm thinking of getting something like this. My kit is currently a 707 606 and a 303 clone. I guess I need something that can do melodies etc, and replace the dull 707 sounds every now and then. The Electribe stuff is appealing since it has its own sequencer.

I'm pretty sure there are music stores in England, too. The EMX costs 555€ in Germany, that's ~470 pounds. Any maybe you've heard of a website called "Ebay", you can get the EMX there, too.

Well done! Very impressive.

So the big numbered buttons on top are the drum machine, and the small numbered buttons on the bottom are the sequencer, and the knobs control cut-off, pitch, ADSR, that sort of thing?

FINALLY someone who really knows how to use all the features, deffo the best EMX vid yet, you work fast and build a groove up from scratch. I haven't touched my EMX for over a year and you've made me want to go and dig it out of the cupboard. Thanks man. BTW, is it just me or is there no way to select a drum part that you want to edit, without it sounding (and ummuting) as you press it?

Are the drums really tweakable or not much? Better to get a machinedrum or jomox?
@bamfasaurusrex16 жыл бұрын
Intosia, you have frequency masking, whichever sound of the same frequency is loudest, that is the only one you will hear because our brains respond to whichever has the most audio information given to us- try using the different filters given to you and you should be able to get rid of the masking and have a nice blend
@krakatoa4713 жыл бұрын
@crowdawg7768 what do you mean by "preloaded?" as far far as synthesis goes, an oscillator waveform is as simple as a sound can get.
@mrtvi4612 жыл бұрын
EMX is a synthesizer, ESX is a sampler. The first generates all the sounds by itself, the latter you need to record the sounds from somewhere. Get both ;D
@FretFreak0214 жыл бұрын
You've got some serious skills dude.
@d3p3ch3mod316 жыл бұрын
I have the Korg esx-1 and full version of FL Studio 7. The Korg is obviously more fun for jamming and stuff and just feels more like a real instrument but it's so much easier to compose entire songs with FL Studio. You can have your playlist window and all your synths open at the same time, I could go on. In terms of composing it's kind of an apples oranges comparison.. Not to mention the massive cost difference. Obviously the Korg is my baby though, which is going to suck if the board ever goes

@bigghettobooty ... idk, i learned it in like a month, i found it easyer to look at some of the drum lines in the premaid beats to get an idea of how to put them together
