Lynex..this is the typical Talmudic verbal circle jerk ..condemnation of the Catholic Church and then others bitching about Muslims..when all the while the those who control literally everything, including the Catholic Church, hide behind the curtain rubbing their Kosher hands together. Go to EMichael Jones on issues of the Catholic Church including their takeover by the synagogue of Satan.

@@User_32 Study the case. It wasn't an acquittal on mere technicality. It was a gross miscarriage of justice. A 7-0 verdict that left no room for speculation. No Hign Court judge would compromise his reputation on this landmark case. And certainly no church should ever imagine she is vindicated base on a single judgment. But Pell's forgiveness of his accusers aptly redeemed the Church in an obscure way. You may disagree, but pecuniary considerations, like sexual deviance, piques the innate fallen state of every man.

She doesn't seem to understand that the Catholic Church, as a point of doctrine, is incapable of sin. They do, imperfectly, recognize that people IN the Catholic Church can sin, but don't believe that the Church itself CAN sin. The Catholic Church as an institution can't repent. The rest is just her complaining that the Catholic Church isn't leftist. That's not a sin.

I think it's sin to sign a treaty with Hitler in 1933. That is what the catholic church did. Pope Pius X11 was friends with Hitler on a political basis. There were thousands of forced mass conversions by the CC in world war 2. The Pope also knew about the concentration camps run by priests and nuns in Europe and the extermination of the Jews,

This whole "pay for your sins" mentality is the same extremism is much like the stake-burning, woman-stoning of medieval times. It's foolish, unproductive hypocrisy. Most of those guilty are dead so unless you have a time machine I suggest you move on to more productive, less aggressive talks about religious practices and/or authority. No one is guilty of any sins but theirs and when you speak of the church you either speak of the people who are mostly innocent or the institution which cannot commit sin any more than a bucket can for it is not a sentient being. If you disagree feel free to be my slave or pay reparations to the injustices dead white people are guilty of. If you want to point fingers and scream guilt by association please hold yourself to that same standard and suffer for the crimes of others who linked to you in any way. The discussion should be what can be done to help those who are still affected and have difficulty escaping the effects themselves.

The Catholic Church has plunged every area in this world in which it operates into sin, poverty and superstition. Christ has paid the price for our sin. We look to Jesus for forgiveness and reconciliation to God the Father - NO ONE and NOTHING else. You WILL pay for your sins if you neglect Christs dire warnings and that price is a lost eternity in Hell; separated from God for ever in eternal darkness and without hope.

A bit of a non-sequitor here but I think this type of rhetoric is unfair and unproductive. If you believe the title of the debate is an intentional pun please note that I don't and this entire comment follows that premise. Tell me who is free from sin? Babies, retards, cripples, that's about it. So this debate surely implies that there's an exceptional amount of evil or justified condemnation towards the church. Since any honest person would agree with my premise that no one is free from sin thus no group is free from sin, how many would support a debate titled " must pay for their sins!"? How probable is it that Oxford holds a debate on atheists paying for its sins or Islam? This double standard and implicit hostility really antagonizes and divides us without helping anyone. This is OXFORD we are talking about, do you really believe they could come up with no alternative way of framing the debate?

Dear Miss Barr, Where to begin. Well, for a start, you could google the words “repent” and “pay”. You will find that these two words have different meanings. Then you could explore their theological and specifically Catholic definitions. That would represent a sound intellectual inquiry as opposed to the kitchen table ignorance one usually espouses about one’s enemies. After that, you might want to establish a knowledge of Catholic Cannon Law as a base by which you “hold the Church accountable”. Then you might want to invite a legitimate opposition to challenge your base and stone cold hatred of a religion not your own. You might, on a redo and some express humility about your own lack of religious education, be able to redeem your reputation as a smart person who thinks rather than hates. A word of advice: never confuse local popularity at the tender age of very young with actual education. In point of fact, mob mentalities do not the best allies make in the long run of life. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have about the ancient faith I have sacrificed so much to hold, the one you hold in gargantuan contempt. You might learn a thing or two about the world.

She makes two(2) fundamental mistake. The Catholic Church has always been destroyed from within until it is no longer truly the Catholic Church (watered down divided taking anti-Jesus teaching). The real Catholic cannot be seen by this lady today except for those unseen by the lady who stay focused on the true teachings of Jesus Christ (and there are multiple million of these Catholics such as this. Secondly, this life is not heaven with unlimited freedom. It is a battle ground between what Jesus Christ wants and what evil wants THE BATTLE: Obey Jesus Christ, even when it is difficult (for example gay lifestyle..) OR say NO to Jesus Christ. This life is your decision time. You do have unlimited free will so you can say no to Jesus Christ (and no to heaven and eternal life with Jesus Christ) and you can say yes or say NO to Jesus Christ to live a gay lifestyle, gay marriage, abortion, and good bye Jesus Christ and goodbye heaven. In real Catholic Church (not the BBC CNN news version or the KZbin version of the Catholic Church).

The Catholic Church is not responsible for the sex abuse of it's priests, the liberal secular culture is. The Catholic Church teaches self restraint, the liberal secular culture of the time that these offences took place (and still does) encouraged "sexual liberation" and so it is the liberal secular world that should be apologizing. This was also confirmed by the world's largest and most comprehensive study into sex abuse, the John Jay report. They concluded that sex abuse within the Church was most likely caused by a liberalization within secular society at the time. Also there is no evidence that the problem was any worse in the Church than other areas of society, so there is zero evidence that the issue was related to celibacy. Also the Church dealt with the problem as well as any other institution of the time, if not considerably better, given that at the time people were largely ignorant of the extent and seriousness of the issue (It was common for the psychiatric profession to recommend that priests be returned to Parish's after counselling, and the Church was following the expert advice of the time). Indeed the British Government was funding pedophilia by giving the Gay Liberation front financial grants (they supported the Pedophile Information Exchange, PIE) and also the Council for Civil Liberties (now known as Liberty) was supporting PIE as a human liberation group, www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-26352378 The sex abuse peaked at the end of the 70's and by the time that the big scandals broke in the early 2000's it was practically over with the rates of abuse being tiny fractions of a percent of the clergy. So the Church had gotten to grips with it, (at least in the English speaking world) before it was a well known issue. The Magdalen Homes in Ireland were investigated by the McAleese report and it was found that the reports about them were largely unfounded. www.catholicleague.org/myths-of-the-magdalene-laundries/ We now know that dictatorial communistic influences have been seeking to ideologically subvert western civilization with liberalism so that the population will be so separated from reality that they will no longer be able to defend themselves, their families, their community or their country. kzbin.info/www/bejne/goTdkKGhqJWMq80 This has been going on for many decades, and it is known that they first seek to destroy the religion and then the morality of the nation they seek to take over. At this time they have succeeded in the genocide of at least 9 million British children through the subversive ideology of radical feminism. Also they are breaking down family, community and national identity so that people will serve only the state/multinational companies. Wake up.
