Acute observation. I once saw a six foot alligator with a two foot alligator captured horizontally in it's jaws. The six footer was calmly carrying away the two footer and the two footer was vocalizing in the same manner. It was a thought provoking moment for sure. This video was well done and I applaud the photographer. Although gruesome, it was an accurate window into nature's way.

Great sequence, well filmed. These battles can last a long time because the snake has no venom to kill the prey. In my garden I once disturbed by accident a grass snake trying to eat a toad and when I returned 24 hours later the snake was in almost the same place, the toad about 3/4 swallowed and dead (presumably suffocated). Good to see real behaviour, not staged.

Unbelievable! I had no idea that grass snakes could take so long to eat their prey. I suspect that this is not without danger for the snake, because it could probably easily be preyed on by a fox or marten.

I have seen a frog that was missing a hind leg. However, since frogs also have to jump to catch prey, a frog with only one hind leg will probably starve to death at some point. In that sense, it is probably less cruel for a frog to be eaten by a snake.

If I had saved that frog, the snake would have eaten another frog to satisfy its hunger afterwards. And the rescued frog might have eaten a butterfly afterwards to satisfy his hunger. So in the end I wouldn't have prevented animals from being eaten. That is why man should not interfere with nature.
