I was there (or at least one of the Earls Court shows). Fabulous, and this is one of the best songs they do live. That guitar delay filling an arena is something special ❤ The demise of Earls Court is sad. I saw Peter Gabriel and Yes there as well as Floyd.

Brilliant review, Pink Floyd always make me smile, love Run Like Hell. If you listen to the intro you can hear David playing Vera Lynn ‘We’ll meet again’🎸

Oh my days!!!! I’ve been listening to this recording for many years, how did I miss that??????? I feel utterly shocked, of course it is! I really just thought it was a random selection of notes, but because they’re played out of context I just didn’t hear it!!! 🤦♂️

Hi Jim! Marcus from slightly windy Leighton Buzzard again. Sometimes you just gotta scratch that itch! Thanks for the reminder of how good this concert was. I was there at Earl's Court in '94. Unfortunately I was with a girlfriend I'd just split up from but Floyd took me to another (much better) place (as they always do). Best concert I've ever been to. Thanks again.

Caught this tour at Sun Devil Stadium in Phoenix, with 65,000 friends. The worst part of this show was that, because in 1994 nobody knew what a farking computer WAS, never mind what you could DO with one, you couldn’t ever explain to anyone WHY the concert was so mind-blowing!! “And the LIGHTS!!! They were……they just……it was all so……ah, sh*t!!” Years later, you could at least drop the DVD in, point to the TV screen, and say “THERE!! THAT’S what it was like!!” The “Division Bell” / PULSE Concert was actually even better than it looks. Pink Floyd put speakers around the perimeter of the venue, so sounds could come at you from anywhere, not just the stage. And because the sound booth was also part of the light show, you felt like you were INSIDE the experience. And the only word that properly describes a PF show is “an Experience”. Take a deep dive into the PULSE Concert, brother. You won’t regret it. Oh, and FYI ~ while on one leg of their tour, they performed “The Dark Side Of The Moon”, start to finish. So there’s that little treat waiting for you… (dangles sparkly little rainbow prism before reviewer's eyes). And a personal suggestion: check out the PULSE version of “One Of These Days”. It has pigs.

The wife and I saw the Pulse Tour when it landed in Philadelphia. We sat near the center about row 30, I think. The blooming disco ball was behind us, so we had to keep looking forward and back to see all the awesomeness. A fantastic show and I still have a few of the complementary Pulse seat cushions. 🤘✌️

Thanks Jim. Not heard this in a long time. My oh my I enjoyed that. My head is in an alternative dimension when listening to Pink Floyd. I used to have a cat who was transfixed whenever I played my Pink Floyd albums. He would sit right next to one of the speakers and appeared to be on catnip😂. I miss that cat.

Listen to music simply for the pleasure is one of the greatest things in life! Not seeing Floyd live is one of my greatest regrets. My brother (RIP) saw them twice, on the MOMENTARY…tour in Manchester and PULSE…in London. He said they two of the grey shows he’d ever seen. My brother died from cancer in December last year and we were due to see a PF tribute act in my home town, next week, I’m still going…in tribute to him.

The Remember that night live concert by David Gilmour is also epic. We have a totally different background Jim. Mij vocational training was about bacteria, viruses, parasites and the immune system.

Saw this tour back in 94 in Gothenburg, and the lights were indeed amazing, not to mention the quality of the sound. The exploding ring of lights at the very end was incredibly loud, such a great way to end it all. Only lights I've seen that has come close since then is Meshuggahs.

Besides Pink Floyd, lighting director Marc Brickman has also designed lighting for many other large shows, including Genesis, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, The Barcelona Olympics, and many others. There’s lots of stuff about him on the Internet. He seems to be the go-to guy when it comes to lighting large shows.
@mattleppard1970Күн бұрын
He also worked on The Wall shows, right?
@robertforman3494Күн бұрын
@@mattleppard1970 My understanding is he came in late for that show to fix some issues and has worked with them since. There are some really interesting articles about him on the Internet. I’ve tried to post links in the past but I think KZbin doesn’t allow that. Let’s try a long quote: MB: There is band gear onstage. One idea was to have a cricket green on top with the band gear underneath, and have an explosion where the cricket green blown apart and the equipment rises up. But, you know, all of those ideas sound great until you try to do them. They cost money. It's not that Pink Floyd will spend any amount of money, but they have been wise in their choices. They backed us 300% on the stuff they finally did choose. Basically, we use all the technology that's available in this show. You've seen it on other shows, but here it's used in a different manner. The only thing we have that no one's ever used are the Floyd Droids, which are Robot-like lamps. There are four of them-Manny, Moe, Jack, and Cloyd. They have a Mercury vapour source, but that's hard to figure out, because the output looks like lasers. They're an unusual kind of light. As they appear during the show, each becomes a little personality in it's own right. At one point, each has it's own little solo. The Floyd droids have MIDI capability, although we're running them manually right now. We're still programming- the software is being written as we speak. Dave Gilmour is really into it, he wants lights on MIDI. Q: Does he want the band members to control lights from their instruments? MB: Yes Q: Would that allow perfect synchronization between the music and the lights? MB: Yes

Pulse is an amazing album. As is A Delicate Sound of Thunder, which was recorded on the previous tour from 1988 for A Momentary Lapse of Reason (which gets too much hate, IMO). I was at one of the Philadelphia shows for A Momentary Lapse of Reason in 1988 and its still the best concert I've ever seen (and I've seen 100's). Simply one of the greatest bands ever.
