I feel almost traumatized myself hearing Beauden’s story. How utterly frightening. You did the best any parent would know to do and thank goodness your sweet son survived. It’s tragic for this to happen to anyone, let alone a child, but perhaps because Beauden is so young, he will grow up already being incredibly resilient having faced such adversity early in life. Thank you for sharing Beauden’s story. He’s a beautiful child and I wish him and all your family much happiness and many blessings in life.

I almost cried several times throughout your story but seeing you smile stopped me from crying until you started crying than I began to ball like a baby. You guys have obviously raised a fighter. What an amazing Story. In 2014 I became very ill. I am not a child, 65 at the time. Twenty-four hours after getting sick I recognized I was sicker than I had ever been. Canceled my doctors appointment and went straight to the emergency room. That probably saved my life. In the hospital with an infection for ten days. After being released my doctor made the comments you are lucky to be alive. It was the first time I ever heard the word sepsis. It took an infectious disease doctor to get rid of my bacterial infection four months later. My doctor had literally prayed over me. I was lucky to recover without any ramifications. Your story is compelling and needs to be share. I am probably sepsis sensitive but if we can save a life, our stories are important. I try to talk about sepsis on my facebook and Instagram site every month. What a beautiful little boy you have. His experience will save the lives of others. Thanks for sharing! #amissionarygirl

Trust Me it happens so fast. I had a fish gaff puncture my foot. Thought I developed covid then bam 24 hrs later I wake up gasping for air and collapsing on the floor.

Both of my nephews (not same families) scraped their knees and got the same infection. They got to the hospital in time just by sheer luck...and are fine many years later. It's just the worst luck kids getting infected these days. Seems you never heard of this happening when we were kids. Anyway I'm so sorry this happened to your family. I am so glad he survived. You are great, strong parents I can see!🌺🌼🌸

My 93 year old mother died of sepsis from a UTI this year. The nursing home staff failed to investigate her complaints in a timely manner.

My heart goes out to all of you. I had a sepsis infection in August of 2019. It settled in 11 of 12 joints. I would love to encourage him to stay positive.

Oh my gosh they should have worked him up for sepsis upon arrival to the emergency room! He had classic symptoms! As parents I can totally understand how you thought it might be the flu but sepsis is one of the first things that should have been considered at hospital.

The initial temperature was probably the immune system trying to kill the bacteria (heat kills bacteria), but if we keep bringing the temperature down, the temperature goes higher and higher each time the antipyretic medication wears off. Sepsis is a killer but reaching for the antipyretic every time we get a raised temperature is also not good. The immune system has to be given time to do its job, surely.

I am nearly 74 and was recently released after 11 days in the hospital with sepsis. We don’t know how but I got an infection in my left shoulder joint. It was staph and also got into my bloodstream. My shoulder was opened and drained and flushed. It did not affect my heart valves. They told my son that had he not gotten me to the ER when he did the outcome would not have been good. I will be on IV antibiotics for several more weeks. We had no idea I was sick, except I got confused and my son claims I was “out of it”. I had told him I hit my head, even though I didn’t. Fortunately he made the decision to call an ambulance and send me to ER. I am grateful to be here. Thank you for sharing the story of your little guy so others can learn.

It's terrible that he lost part of his legs and some fingers, but it's a miracle that he's alive and gets to grow up. I was born with Goldenhar syndrome, which has its challenges, and when I was 8 I got sick with something the doctors couldn't find. For over 2 months I had every test they could throw at me and still didn't know what was making me sick. Finally the doctors told my folks I wouldn't make it another 24 hours and asked to do an exploratory surgery in my skull thinking I must have a brain tumor. Something happened, either during the surgery (where they still didn't find anything) or God stepped in and gave me a miracle but the next morning I was so much better the doctor thought he had the wrong patient. Since then I've had some challenges, only because of the Goldenhar, but I have lived a pretty normal life and I'm now 70. My Sepsis story : Four years ago I tripped on some broken sidewalk and fell down. Was in a lot more pain than I thought was usual and went to the doctors. Ended up going to the doctors and then ER 6 times that week before they let me in the hospital. I was there 5 days and my legs turned black but were saved. Since then my overall health has slowly gotten worse. This isn't unusual for Sepsis survivors so everyone take care, know the symptoms!

God bless you all! My husband developed toxic and septic shock following the removal of a cyst from his back. He's a bilaternal BKA now. Keep looking for the silver lining when there are storm clouds - they're there.

Thank you for sharing your story - I know it wasn't easy. You absolutely did the right things, then and now. Your little guy looks so very much like my son at that age. I will keep Beauden and you and your family in prayer. My sister-in-law nearly died of sepsis 10 years ago. The entire family was called in and told she would not last through the night. But she made it. Her situation started with what was thought to be the flu, and turned to pneumonia, and progressed from there. She was left with heart issues but has fought her way back. She has regular check-ups and is back to work. God bless you all.

I had sepsis from a UTI and the first responder spotted what I had so I was pumped full of a combination of antibiotics. I was lucky and only suffered a crashed immune system for years after

13:12 I cried with you and your story. You did the right thing for him. I am sorry that you had to go through this. But look to the future. He will need some help continuing his recovery. I have read so many stories. My heart goes out to all. I had sepsis 6 months ago. I had had 2 back surgeries and had several falls. I knew I broke ribs but they can’t fix them. I had been battling a UTI. I felt the bacteria creeping up my legs, with a chill. I thought what was going on. Realizing I was going to have to cancel my Dr. appointment it hit me like a ton of bricks. The down to the bone cold was something I can’t tell you how cold I was. Then I began to shake. Like I had Parkinson’s. I was talking gibberish and so my daughter called my husband who said to call the ambulance. It’s all black, blank absolutely no memory of what was happening. I had fever and because I have COPD and on oxygen my levels were low. I was there several days as they all tried to identify the bacteria. In all of this I had double pneumonia. Unfortunately I write to you from my hospital room now. I got flu then again double pneumonia. I again was so afraid of it coming back. They were able to get me right in with the antibiotics flowing round the clock. I noticed my mind is not the same. I also experienced hair loss. Bless you and what you have done to save your sweet son. You are strong parents. ❤

@jowinsor1 I still vividly remember that awful shivering and feeling so, so cold. Nothing could fix it. I lay underneath so many covers, shaking violently, but I couldn’t warm up. I was 14 at the time, and it’s been 6 years, but that cold feeling is my most vivid memory from when I had MRSA, sepsis, and toxic shock. I hope you are doing ok and heal quickly.
