Houses don’t have to be grand to be gorgeous. This one is beautiful Kappy. These older homes were built sooooo much better than the homes of today. Most newer homes start falling apart after 20yrs and then there’s the homes you bring us, that’s been standing for hundreds of years. We wouldn’t have these beauties of the past if it wasn’t for your dedication and hard work. Thanks so much Kappy! 😊

This is one of those cases of, "LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING!" From outside I was expecting pretty much a simple 2- or 3-room cottage, but it's much larger inside than appears. What a surprise! And such a grand entrance, too! WOW!

This little home is in very good shape for being built in 1840. 184 years old and there is no interior water damage. The roof, while aging, kept the home secure . This would be a fun dwelling to restore. It could be very charming ! When the roof on any dwelling is damaged, the interior decays rapidly.

This house seems like it held up very well, and I am happy to see they didn't leave alot of junk in it. Small, but beautiful house, you are right.
@susanpage83156 ай бұрын
Beautiful home! This would be Greek Revival architecture, popular when this house was built. The center hallway, with doors at both ends, allowed breezes to flow through. A shotgun house is a narrow house, common in the south, where you could shoot a gun from front to back. These homes were quite small and are still common in the deep south.
@tammybaker66356 ай бұрын
Now this would be a place, if I could win the lottery, I would buy and fix to live in. It is my type of place! The sun hitting the windows to each side of the front door was awesome! The inside under the stairs I'd almost bet was what the original wood looked like. Great find! The second place reminded me of a friends place when I was a kid. You knocked another video out of the park Mr Kappy! Thanks for taking me along! 😊

Oh my you’re in SC !! This was a very sweet home. The wood looked like what we call lighter knot!! Very good shape. I like the strings for curtain rods 😊. We had them long ago too. You made do with whatever you had on hand. Think it would still make a good home with a whole lot of cleaning. Old houses just have an unique smell to the wood. Looks almost like my Aunts house, it sat on old wooden pillars. Thanks for the video and the last house was pretty too, but I think the first was my favorite.

This home is beautiful. In the days it was built wallpaper was big, so the board walls above the wainscoting could have had wallpaper on them. You can see how they covered the fireplaces and had wood stove heat after they became available. There is also a stovepipe hole upstairs too. I didn't see one in the kitchen, but there must have been. The roofline is still as straight as a die. I would love to live in this house and restore it!

I really wonder why this house was vacated. I have seen people in the area live in much worse houses. It could be a case of a farmer buying the land and really not wanting to fool with the house except to keep it looking neat.

What a cool old house. Love the tongue and groove finish inside, the wainscoting, the woodwork. Shotgun houses were in southern Louisiana. The name came from front and back doors in house lining up so you could fire shotgun and not hit anything inside. They allowed breezes to move thru house, cooling them

I really appreciate you going there and capturing it. Anytime, I see a staircase done that style I know the house is old. I certainly didn't realize that house was that old! This area was not one of the more affluent places and there is still a great deal of poverty.
