@Ma12345Ho5 жыл бұрын
@@joseph3628 Na huh 340° is the direction the wind is heading to, so frontal wind
@joseph36285 жыл бұрын
Ma12345Ho in my country if we say for example winds 3kt 340 degrees it means that the wind is going in the direction of 340 degrees. In this case the pilot had a tail wind of 4kts you would have to multiply the landing distance by 1.25. This landing has a sufficient distance to be able to make a successful tailwind landing

I am confused with all the comments on head wind or tailwind. If somebody refers to an Easterly or an East wind...they mean that the wind is blowing FROM the East...not towards. In the same way of it is wind 340 degrees then it means the wind is FROM 340 degrees...in this case a head wind. This is in direct contrast with runway numbering system where the number indicates that the runway is laid towards the direction in degrees..in this case the runway is running almost perfect south to north.

Is that breathing into camera mic? Sounds like windstorm.
@justplanes5 жыл бұрын
That is right... sometimes the pilots move those closer to their mouths/noses and since below 10,000 feet we can't talk to them we're stuck with it... nothing we can do and they're focused on flying not the breathing :)
@skofandrence1584 жыл бұрын
so the tower gave clearance to land even if there's traffic on the runway ?
@nicoth.4124 жыл бұрын
He gave them the clearance just as the other traffic was leaving the runway, which isn't unusual at a busy airport, which Zurich definitely is at certain times during the day
@nikobelic4251 Жыл бұрын
This happens all the time at nearly every airport on the planet. They expect pilots to have a minimum of common sense and go around if there is traffic on the runway when they are landing.

Great Video, and I know I am 4 years late to the party but as a pilot myself, I have a deep hatred reserved for all the pilots that breathe into the mic CONSTANTLY! Like, it's not that hard to adjust it for you to not breath into your colleagues ear. I don't understand how it doesn't bother them.

First touch was (too) smooth. A340 has a centergear which has no damper and its sometimes just bad luck. Flying the same too. Best practice is to not try to make a butter landing as this will result in a smashing second landing

Thomas Mortimore well one cfm56 engine has about 35000 pounds of thrust and the a340 has 4 and a mtow of 270t. the 777 with a mtow of 350t has 2 ge90 engines which each 105000 pounds of thrust. A340: 518 lbf per Ton B777: 600 lbf per ton 20% more power in the 777 And imagine an a340 with only one engine operative
