Love your lessons Jason and your heartfelt soul-opening. I'm a very novice harp player in my 70's and loving the instrument - can't bend properly yet, but will get there. Any chance you'll come over to England sometime?

Jason I totally understand what you’re going through. Things from our past that we keep locked away have a sneaky way of resurfacing every now and then. When I lost my sight over night I thought I was worthless as a husband and a father. That was 15 years ago still here. They say what don’t kill you makes you stronger. I think you are a very humble person and stronger than you think. Been learning harp since 2017 and your lessons have given me a great deal of knowledge on this little instrument, sure there has been times when I thought about giving it up but then I think you have overcome bigger things in your life. Thank you for all your hard work giving us Free Fridays , even when you don’t feel like it. Best regards Tony

I can only imagine how difficult it is to be an artist on the road. Have to do all that manual work of commuting and driving. Not even mention the incredible stress and danger of just being on our highways. And, then having to take the stage to be fully present and perform. As someone who has tickets to one of your shows on this tour, I THANK YOU in advance for such a heroic and courageous endeavor! I'll be preparing extra batches of my homemade banana bread for you to take on the road with your band and it will be made with gluten-free flour in case Caitlin is sensitive to that ingredient. ☮️💖☯️

Hey Jason...This was a top lesson; I immediately did the classic 3 half step bend scoop up to the 3D on the 1st phrase and soon added notes b4 and after each of the phrases the possibilities r endless. Adam G actually has a lesson on chugging or vamping where just as an example of expansion he moves from the vamp and uses your exact 1st two phrases from this lesson but then comes back on himself as 5d,4d, 5b,4d...3d,2d,3d',2d...before resolving back to the chord vamp. Your advice on accurate 2D and 3D bending is key, I shedded this right from the start 4 years ago and its paid off. Jason perhaps u might consider your solo at Rock n Roll hall of fame for a future Butterfield Free Friday. No tab, just show us how u played it (a bit slower) so that those that want to can try and ear train it like a Ronnie Shellist lesson 😀❤😎

To be clear these are 6th chords, not vi chords. For example, the extended tonic (I) chord here is a D6 (D, F#, A, B), while the submediant (vi) chord is a Bm (B, D, F#). Their notes overlap significantly, but they serve very different functions...and created a very different sound/feeling...within the chord structure. Don't you just love how Music is Math _within_ Math? If ever there were a _Science of Emotional Expression,_ Music Theory is it! Either way, another good 6th chord exercise...which you actually demonstrated in the video...is the intro to _Pride and Joy_ by Stevie Ray Vaughan, building bass line skill. P.S. Speaking of overcoming hardship in the name of self-improvement and worthwhile goals, I'm currently sick, too, _but_ I found that a head and chest cold have forced me to focus on breathing low with the diaphragm (correctly) because I cough like crazy when I breathe high in my chest....and pausing to cough makes for some crazy phrasing! LOL
