Cynthia Rylant’s stories are always the best kid books! All of my kids loved one of her series when they were learning to read, & reread them long after they were too old for them! I just sent my Granddaughter a few of CR’s stories for her stocking.🥰

@@novelideea We tried one of them but my son didn't get into them. But I think it was because he was too young. Now that you mention them, I think I may give them another try! What do you like about them? (assuming that is why you mentioned them LOL!!). I loved the illustrations and was completely drawn in by them.

@ my oldest daughter loved those and Cobble Street Cousins, My son loved Poppleton and Mr Putter and high rise private eyes. And the youngest loved her Everyday books + all the others that her siblings loved 🤭 and many of her stand alone books were loved by them too.

This was such a delightful video!! Your reading nook looks so cozy and the books are all so beautiful! My favorite is The Polar Express. When my son was little, I was never able to read it aloud to him without choking up. It's wonderful that you include Hanukkah books in your holiday collection. I so enjoyed this👍👍👍! I cannot say which book has the best illustrations 😅. I will say that the illustrations in the Lion the witch and the wardrobe is fantastic, the nutcracker is a fave ballet watch for me, I have the Robert Ingpen book of it. I am getting the Julia Sarda illustrated copy of Mary Poppins in my local bookstore, I am so happy that I have someone to share this kind of book delight with😊. We actually love and cherish a book by her called “Home for Christmas” but I forgot to include that one, as well as a couple of others-I will have to save it for another year! I saw she has a new adapted version of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Have you seen that one yet? Its beautiful! We love trolls-I’m on the lookout for a good book on the Icelandic Yule Lads as we adopted that tradition when my son was 2 years old and he LOVES it! Her illustrations would be perfect for that type of book!

The Treasury of Wintertime Tales looks gorgeous! And so many other favorites are seen here, too! I confess that I’ve had a rough time appreciating The Nutcracker as a written book. But my son and I are firm annual fans of the ballet and music! 🎄Your presentations are always so inspiring, Heather. We always learn something new about the authors and especially illustrators. Even though I grew up with these images, (especially Pauline Baynes!) I always learn new, fun facts from your incredible research. And your spirit shines through it all! 😊 PS, aren’t orange slices and spices just the best?!

Hi Celeste! I just love that Wintertime Tales book! The Nutcracker was interesting...my son did not understand what was going on and even I, at times, felt myself confused. But the illustrations really enhance the experience! I ended up being enchanted! Did you read an illustrated version? If so, which one? I am reading the Alexandre Dumas version right now. Will report! Thank you so much for saying such lovely things about my video! I am looking forward to your next video...I check every day to see if you have a new one out! Oh yes about the orange slices and cinnamon! I also love sticking cloves in oranges or lemons. My grandma used to do that and it stuck with me!
