Here’s a basic crochet bag tutorial for a simple, beginner-friendly bag:
Materials:
Medium weight yarn (e.g., worsted weight)
Crochet hook (size recommended for your yarn, often H-8 (5mm) for worsted weight)
Scissors
Yarn needle
Abbreviations:
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
sl st: slip stitch
st: stitch
Instructions:
1. Create the Base
Foundation Chain: Ch 31.
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. (30 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (30 sc)
Repeat Row 2 until your base piece is a square or rectangle that is the desired size of the bag's base.
2. Work Up the Sides
Sides: With the right side facing you, ch 1, then sc in each st around the edges of the base (including working sc into the ends of rows). Join with a sl st to the first sc of the round.
Rounds: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with a sl st. Repeat until the bag reaches the desired height.
3. Create the Handles
