I wish you had seen on Sunday night July 23rd on CBS, the repeat of "ONE LAST TIME: AN EVENING with TONY BENNETT and LADY GAGA" It was on last year to celebrate his 95th birthday. It was a PHENOMENAL show. He and Lady Gaga had a very close relationship and had performed together before. It was held in Radio City Music Hall in NYC. Mr. Bennett was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, and didn't remember many many things, but he STILL remembered all the words to the songs he sang. Lady Gaga performed songs from that iconic period of music which were the bulk of the songs Mr. Bennett performed. Then she escorted him on to the stage, leading him to the grand piano where he could support himself by holding on to the piano with his right hand. He sang duets with Lady Gaga with some of his most popular songs. His voice was just as wonderful at 95 as it was for years. There was such a sparkle in his eyes and he acknowledge the audience after each song. The camera panned the audience several times and there were some tears amongst the crowd. I myself was crying watching it, as I did when it was on last year. My dad was a musician who played 4 instruments, played in several "Big Bands" in the '40s and '50s, and still played gigs until he was 98 years old, he passed away in 2020 at the age of 103. Because of my dad I was exposed to Big Band music and all the crooners, since I was a very small child. My DAD LOVED Tony Bennett, and he would have LOVED that "One Last Time" show. That show WAS Mr. Bennett's last performance. But Sunday night, watching that show again, I cried even more, because my mother also had Alzheimer's for about 10 years, passing when she was 76. She loved Tony Bennett too. I HOPE you can find "ONE LAST TIME: AN EVENING with TONY BENNETT and LADY GAGA" You will LOVE it. THANK YOU for HONORING Mr. Bennett today. LOVE to you BOTH. RIP Mr. Tony Bennett....your music will live on forever.

I would add that one of the reasons crooners are so wonderful is because of the material they sing. The songs were melodic, had good arrangements, and the lyrics were sentimental without being crass. Bennett, Sinatra, Martin, Como, Torme, Cole, and let's not forget Ella; they stood there and interpreted the Great American Songbook.

When he did his farewell concert at Radio City in 2021 with Lady Gaga, he was deep in the forgetfulness of Alzheimer's but as soon as the music started he sang without forgetting a word and with that great, strong voice of his. He didn't remember anybody but when Gaga walked on stage he immediately said her name, which brought out the tears. Both are pros and the concert went off wonderfully. RIP.

Yep, even us old hippies and metal heads could appreciate the amazing voice of the master, Tony Bennett. My folks loved him and he is one of the few crooners I can listen to, Frank Sinatra is the other. Not often as I'm a Rocker, period but you have to tip your hat to one of the best, and a great, all around guy as well. He will be missed! 🎵🎤🎶

RIP Tony. Thank you for making my childhood happier. My parents always had you on the record player. Thank you for fighting in WWII and coming back. You need to hear this song in the studio version.

Was a great person too. I worked as a bellman at a hotel in Denver in the 90s to help with college. Tony Bennett stayed there everytime he was in town. After one show, he was walking through the lobby to the elevators. A lady saw him and asked if he would sing at her daughters wedding reception that was also at the hotel. He quickly agreed. Sang 2 songs and gave the newlyweds cash as an additional gift. Class act.

Thank you! This was my lullaby when my mother, God rest her soul, would rock me to sleep. I did the same for my kids and once caught my son singing this to my grand-daughter. Absolutely beautiful song, voice and man.

"I Left My Heart in San Francisco" peaked @ #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1962 and was a career defining signature record for Tony Bennet. "ILMHISF" won the Record of the Year Grammy and Tony won the Best Male Vocal Grammy for 1962.

Tony Bennett wax a class act. Was always cool. Made 2 duet albums with contemporary singers. He was also a painter, under the name of Antonio Benedetto. ❤ Thank you!

I am a native San Franciscan, born, raised and still living there. We love Tony and he loved SF. A beautiful statue of him is in front of the Fairmont Hotel near the cable car where he performed many times in the hotel's Venetian Room. He attended the statue's unveiling ceremony for his 90th birthday. The hotel has a Tony Bennett suite named for him. This song has so much meaning for us natives. For those like me who first heard it back in the early 60s as a kid when it was a huge hit, the song instilled pride and love for our city. Transplants to the city will never understand how much Tony means to us. This song always played in my head when landing at the airport. He is such a great singer. No autotune -- he is the real deal. RIP. He will always be in our hearts ❤.

A fond memory of mine, from when I was working under a travel contract at a hospital in Oakland. I was leaving work one afternoon and from the top parking deck you could see San Francisco and the Golden Gate bathed in fog and sun. The local rock station was playing this song. I remember the DJ said excuse use for being sentimental, but we got to play it. Makes me tear up. ❤❤❤

You nailed it Amber- he does have such a sweet air about him. His smile is just the sweetest ever. This song brings back so many memories for me. I grew up across from SF Bay and we went to the city for all of my birthdays. It was always so much fun. When I was of drinking age, we would always play this song on the jukebox while at some of the old restaurant/bars in North Beach. Thank you so much for this!

Tony Bennett has blessed us with his music for seven decades! His catalog is huge! In addition to being an incredible singer, Tony Bennett was a remarkable human being - a veteran, a Civil Rights activist who marched with Dr. King in Selma, a philanthropist who founded a school of the arts in memory of his good friend, Frank Sinatra, a humanitarian, a mentor, and a painter & sculptor. Just a class act! We certainly lost one of the greats last week, but happily, his music will live on forever. Please check out his rendition of The Shadow of Your Smile from the movie, The Sandpiper. RIP Mr. Bennett, and thank you for making us smile!
