Built in 1948 lots of neat history online about Sally Abney Rose, if you are interested just google it. Loved the beautiful architecture that was left especially the grand spiral staircase. Never seen a house with an elevator so that was unique. There’s also a museum nearby which has a miniature replica of the house, definitely worth checking out if the house interests you.
Big apology for my awful flashlight and the camera issues on this video. Wasn’t expecting too film anything on this trip south
Thanks for watching

Sally Rose was Buck Fulps Mother. Everyone in the family had their own houses and this one was a big behemoth to keep up after her passing in 2005. It was gorgeous in Sally's life. She used to decorate at Christmas like a dream. She even had a floating Christmas tree in the middle of the pond in front of the house every year. It is a shame to let it go the way they did. but I guess when you have the crazy kind of money this family does- a mansion for several million is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Especially when the property fronts 76 and 85 and is worth dozens of millions to developers. it will be torn down and commercial property will be put in. Very sad.

Yeah it is about to be demolished it was sold by her son in 2007 for several million dollars. Developers are gonna make money with multi use prime real estate. There was an article about the house in the Post and Courier today and I wanted to learn more about the house before it is torn down.😢

All that vandalism happened within the last 5 years. I know this house because my husband and I looked it 6 years ago. There was a full time security guard who lived on the property. A absolute shame! The swimming pool had been filled in and there was a beautiful rose garden at one time.

Surely someone lived there after the lady died if it was sold to someone else. Also all the clothes left behind look too new. Small girl shoes seen. But whoever left it must have left in a hurry leaving children’s clothes etc.

I have been in this house so many times as a child and youth. Her sister in law (I think) Mrs. Josephine Abney (Greenwood) had a huge house. My Dad had textile mills. Mrs. Rose would STROKE out over the condition. There was a man working for her that would make me “Cherry Coca-Cola” with real cherries. She was a very very gracious and kind REAL Southern Belle. I went there one time when it started snowing and she told me we’d have to go home in a sleigh lol. Somebody working there use to make (I think) ginger snap cookies. She loved the Educational Garden (pronounced GAHHHH-din) that our friend Mrs. McPhail and she worked on. It did have an elevator. I rode up and down on it as long as her housekeeper operated it. I think is was added when Mr. Benny got older. I can’t remember. I never saw him much.I remember a big grandfather clock that she made chime for me right at the top of the stairs.

I live near that house and I was told people went in it and busted walls to see if the woman who lived there may of hid valuables in the walls of the home. After she passed all of her art work, antiques and pieces of art work she gathered from around the world was all auctioned off for a grand total of 4.7million! I actually have been to this property before. The son sold the home to a commercial developer after his mom passed, made million’s off the property and went and bought a house on Daniel Island located in Charleston, SC. The developer has the property listed with commercial restate agent. Rumor has it they are talking about putting a bass pro shop or a outlet mall. It’s so sad if I had this home in my family I could never just sell it.

All I can say is what a shame there are envious and mean savages in this world who must ruin beautiful things like this, that someone could have restored easily (before the savages destroyed it). I wonder why the former owner didn't leave the house to someone who would have loved it? Short of my soul, I would give nearly anything to have a house like that in a peaceful and serene location like that. Sad and infuriating at that same time.

@@tatertott2390 Describing an animal as savage means that it is true to its wild, ferocious nature, but if you describe a person or the actions of a person as savage, it means "cruel" or "brutal." A place can also be described as savage if it's untamed, uninhabitable, and unwelcoming. When savage takes the form of a noun, it means "a brutal person," and when it's a verb it means "to attack ferociously." Any way you use it, savage is uncivilized and violent. These vandals were savage and dumb.

It would be interesting to ask the lowlifes who trashed the place if they’d ever actually built anything, or if they were only talented at destroying what others built. I guess that’s a rhetorical question.

No need to apologize, the details of the house showed up very well. Sad to see it vandalized, I have come to the conclusion that people of the Carolinas and West Virginia love destroying things. Thanks for sharing another great explore!

I think it’s bored heathens everywhere! I’m from WV and I hate to see things vandalized. This house was gorgeous I’m sure, and still has good bones. Beautiful place ❤️

@@lisaknell1809 I agree it is heathens everywhere. I did not mean to imply that vandalism is limited to those states, I just know from watching Kappy's videos that I am more likely to see gutted houses there than in other places. Fortunately this house still retains much beauty and I agree with you that the bones are probably still good.

@@jared1870 It seems that the new owners of this property are talking demolition. I hope not, too many of these beauties are being destroyed.

You are a kind hearted man Kappy. Love the transit window above the front door. Wow this place is very pretty and yes the details are so pretty. Was Some of the oldnest taken out. Nope look at the trim around the ceiling. This place is really big and must have been gorgeous when first built. Thanks for the tour. lean on God

Just passed this house a couple days ago going to Clemson. Now that you can see it from 76 now. Had to do some research to see the history because I never knew the house was there until they started cutting down the trees!

Thank you for taking the time to document this dying beauty. A development company has bought the house and the land. They are going to destroy the house in the beginning of 2022 for a shopping center.

The house is slowly fading away, as the owner did. It was a beauty in it's day, a shame someone always wants to break, and tare things up, they just can't let it die on it's own.

Thank you for sharing. Your videos are so interesting. As I view this once grand home, I can't help but think that someone owns this house. Someone owns it. It's utterly shameful that they've let it deteriorate like this. They should literally be ashamed of themselves.
