For a long time, I never would have dreamt of getting married and raising kids, but over time I’ve realized how much it actually matters to me and over this last year, I’ve been dreaming of homesteading and having as many children as possible and providing for them as a homemaker.

To make prep easier for the chicken fry, I throw all the chicken in the egg mixture. Then told the chicken into flour mixture. Then use a large metal sift to get any extra flour off before I toss each batch into the skillet.

When we moved into our new home, the dining room had no wall big enough for our china cabinet. I loved this piece so much and did not want to stick it into any old room. I put it in our living room. All my china is in the bottom cabinets but the shelving above is filled with vintage books, picture frames and some of my milk glass. I change out a few things for the different seasons but otherwise it is a well curated bookshelf. It’s a great way to use beautiful antique cabinets!

Have you considered those old oil lamps with glass shades? I've seen them at hobby lobby that use bulbs rather that oil which would be great with kids. (I know I would worry mine would get oil all over the place. ) But they look vintage like the old oil lamps on the outside. I could see one working really nicely in your home.

The fact that you had dedicated time to stay together with your baby initially is brilliant and the baby holder to your chest (I don't even know what you call them) is equally as brilliant. Thank you for all your content, it's going to help me be a better Mother in law and Grammy.

I'm new. I think I heard about you from This and That with Denise. My brain only clearly remembers things tied to strong emotions. Everything else is hit or miss so I have to write down what I want to remember. I can't resume homemaking until we move to our own property. We were evicted from our old house by our autistic son Daniel breaking community guidelines in August. I'm actually happy about that as it finally lit a fire under Lee to get back to working on our own property. He's only fast at lawn care, carpet care, painting, and fixing lawnmowers, weed eaters, and 4-wheelers. He's slow at everything else. Likely I need to get a job (Lee is the only one who can handle Daniel now that he's a teenager so I need to be the one to earn an income) and pay experts to do the work that needs to be done before we can live there. We have to add an electrical meter, fix the water pump, repair the water well house, dig the sewer lines, and add a mailbox. My cousin Brandi's husband Chris does everything except the electrical. Earliest they can dig the sewer lines is in the Spring. Everything else should be easier then since the weather will not be too hot or too cold. Until then we'll be living separately. I'm at my mother's house. Lee doesn't like the drama here. I'm used to it since my mother, brother, and sister all have dramatic personalities. I have a calm one like our deceased father (he died of Lou Gehrig's Disease in February 1996) and Daniel loves his daddy the most so they are a friend's house (I'm allergic to things at the friend's house and so are they; she has 3 cats). I got a job offer a few weeks ago but now they so far haven't selected me yet. I got another job offer yesterday and hopefully this one hires me. I can move around more with that job. I'm not very picky about decorating. Daniel destroys most of it. I just plan to change out the furniture in our bedroom to suit us. I want to add two twin-size beds (I share a room with Daniel since we're both deep sleepers and he doesn't like sleeping in a room by himself; Lee is a light sleeper and even a change in temperature wakes him up so his bedroom is on the other side of the house from ours), three five-drawer chests (hold my and Daniel's clothing and our towels and the tops I use as a standing desk), a lingerie chest (hold my huge bras as well as my and Daniel's socks and underwear; top is perfect for my sunrise alarm lamp), a small entertainment center (hold the TV, DVD player, and all of my current and future video game consoles; has to be in vision range of a space I can swing my kettlebells), and a bookshelf (I'm minimalist in everything except books so need to measure how wide and tall it can be with all of the other furniture in place so it will be the last thing I buy). I like Carolina Morning for the bed and Furniture in the Raw for the rest. I plan to get unfinished furniture and paint them dark brown. I want to paint the walls in a diamond pattern of dark blue and either light or olive green. Dark blue and dark brown have always been my favorite colors. Light to olive green reminds me of our deceased younger son Thomas's eye color (he died of SIDS seven weeks after his birth in 2011). I actually like all shades of blue and brown but only certain shades of all other colors. For example, I don't like the dark green carpet and counter on the bathroom sink. Might change those further in the future. I was only able to save my stock pot, rice strainer, skimmer, and Mason jars. Have to buy everything except the large appliances. I found beautiful blue cooking utensils, cookware, bakeware, and dishware. I'm mostly going off of Debra Lynn Dadd's list of toxin free products. Our new house is smaller than our old house. I want a commercial-size (I regularly order from small businesses) reflective mailbox, upgrade the pole to be reflective and add a swing-away feature. We want to add an outdoor boiler that can use wood, coal, or corn as fuel. We found a good resource for coal near our property. There's wood and corn further away. Also need another vehicle as ours were stolen. Likely need another truck that fits all three of us. Lee wants it to have a 4-wheel drive. Our old one had a bench seat and a stick shift. My style is simple, minimalist, and Bohemian. I also have to replace half of my wardrobe due to new allergies to polyester and nylon. I also allergic to metals (nickel and copper), most fragrances, some adhesives, and cats (Lee and Daniel are also allergic to cats). Fortunately I can avoid my allergies. It must suck for people who are allergic to trees and grass. Daniel is daddy's boy. Thomas was mine. I miss him so much. I was ridiculously happy for the first time while he was alive and I've been primarily numb for the first time since he died. I broke the moment he went from warm and alive to extremely cold and dead.

I need those design books! They look so good. We just bought a 1920s colonial revival and I'm thinking of design. A perk is that the entire house is coming with the antique furniture that will help me SO much to set the foundation of design because all the furniture is beautiful. Just have to add our personal touches. Also I've been wnating to ask you for years and always forget- but does your family love listeing to music? If so what kind of music? I'm imagining y'alls windows open and enjoying bluegrass music. But I could totally be wrong.
