"Hello from the Welsh American Channel. Just want to let you know that we Welsh Americans are also interested in what is going on in Wales and Llanberis. Visited that exact location last fall. It is awesome.

I fell in love with all things North Wales/Snowdonia when my brother decided to attend Bangor Uni & I went up to visit - gobsmacked at what I saw, I am 84 now & in the US many years, but a big chunk of my heart will always live in this place - my 4 kids have wonderful memories of empty beaches & rambling up mountain trails with their parkas on inside out to glow bright red so I could see where they were ! For about 10 years we went every year in our camper van with never any yearning for any other place !!! Love you always Wales, your history, your people (the actual real Britons !), your magic, your glorious scenery - don't ever change ! Even after many years over in the US I constantly 'video-return' to recapture this rootsy old-world life that I hope is never totally lost ! I would have retired there too had it not been for my 4 kids & 5 grandkids being here in the US ! And my brother's family are still living around the Bangor area !

Thank you for sharing your passion for Wales. Lovely to read memories you have. We too would visit every year with the family from about 2 to 11 years old and are still drawn back from time to time. A home from home.

At some point it seems a time travel. What a harsh life for those workers. And an amazing museum. Beautiful video as usual. Regards.

@memoryseekers so wonderful to see the Welsh series. Lived in South Wales up until 20 yrs ago when I loved to Sweden. So I have visited most of these places but loved seeing them. My Swedish wife and I drove over some years back and went north to south to my Hometown of Carmarthen. The slate Museum is outstanding. Over the last 5 years I have handled a lot of Welsh slate coasters etc as I get it from penrhyn slate crafts and laser engrave the slate. Very inspiring series and my wife has just said we must do it again soon. Thanks for the great films.

Thank you Simon and Will once again. Not as bad as going into mines but still dangerous work for the workers and their long term health. Amazing museum, as you said looks like they had just downed tools. Have a great week =-) and thank you.

A few years ago (I think) I watched a BBC series that was finally uploaded on KZbin. It was the series where a group pretend to be living in certain era's or during a particular time in history. Anyway, they showcased the slate mining industry etc. Quite interesting.

The Old Dart is fortunate in having a large population within day-trip range of pretty well all its landscapes. Love the toy trains of Wales, especially having had a mate who used to drive a local example of these tourist anachronisms. Great to view this continuing series, though sad not to have my old Welsh mate still around to add to the experience.

I visited Llanberis in 2017 and went into the quarry via the steep path from the pay and display car park near to the slate museum. Having climbed the steep path including former inclines I was knackered once I reached the quarry only to see a young girl riding a bicycle. Wondering how she got in there on her bike I walked and found the easy way to the quarry which is through Dinorwic village and at that time free parking with a short level walk to the quarry. I wasn't pleased although being on my own my safety thoughts kicked in and I didn't go deep into the quarry as quarries can be very dangerous places if you're on your own. There is no ongoing maintenance at the quarry and wet slate can be extremely slippery.

What a really interesting place. The scenery in Wales is lovely. Simon you seem to roll the Welsh words so easily off the tongue, are you Welsh? Thanks for another great show. Cheers Cheryl 🙂

My mum is part Welsh, but I am not sure if have pronounced them all correctly. Certainly tried and did some research on how others have did the names. It’s pretty tricky! ☺️

Shame about the weather, but perhaps that kept the maddening crowds away? I've seen the photos from Easter, seems your videos are doing a great job!! Happy travels, hope the weather will be improving soon - we've had it as warm & dry as you have had it bleak and wet.

@@MemorySeekers I do think of you guys trying to make your videos all bright & sunny - in the UK, but I s'pose it's good to show that in spite of what the weather throws at you - and it can be ghastly, there is generally something for the valiant to do! Wrap up warm with a sturdy pair of gum boots or waders & off you go! I see the blossoms & leaves are making an appearance, so Spring is trying to raise the bar. We all enjoy your videos, which is why I'm sure so many turned out around Snowdonia this Easter!! Keep well, & hope all is staying afloat in your world.

Humans tend to have that effect everywhere that they proliferate. But then Nature herself can produce some pretty dramatic "scarred up landscapes" - cf The Grand Canyon and numerous Volcanic blast areas around the world. New crags are often colonized by opportunistic species and sometimes they can be the saviours of some hard-pressed species in odd areas.

A shame it's still not quarried and slate tiles still sold. It's an easy access open cast quarry. Yes it's more expensive to buy real slate but there are a lot of rich people in the world. Smells a bit like laziness to me...
