I think that's the main problem with countries that are still conservative, like South Korea or India. Suicide is more like an act that brings shame to the family, so the victim is always blamed. Parents do not try to understand the reasons for such actions, making the wish for kids to commit suicide even stronger.

The thing is, suicide pacts are a crime in south korea. So if you were found to have assisted a suicide then firstly, society will abandon you. There may be some charges on her by the court but I'm not too sure about that. And what cheongha did will be referred to as assisting a suicide

I AGREE WITH YOU 100%, but in real life I'll have to side with her mum, check out the Michelle Carter case, just type her name on KZbin and you'll know everything. She helped her boyfriend commit suicide simply by encouraging him and because she did not discourage him she was blamed for his suicide even though there was ample evidence that without her he would still eventually kill himself and he also had a history of attempted suicide. She is currently in jail, they basically treated her the same way they would a murderer and her conversations with him were over text messages. I think her mum knew that this would happen to her so that's why she is keeping silent, I mean she just barely saved her daughter from death, to lose her to the justice system would be just as bad cause not only will she go to jail... She will forever be labeled as the chick who aided another man's suicide. She'll have no future... And she might try to commit suicide again 😭 it's not an easy decision I'd imagine

i thought the mother was empathetic and didnt want junkyum’s parents to blame themselves for their son’s suicide but it turns out it’s because she doesn’t want her daughter to be accused of assisting suicide. obviously the judge lady herself out of hysteria would find every reason to blame the other person for her son’s death (i would if i was mourning tbh) and Cheonga would be charged and imprisoned possibly. so i guess it makes sense at a moment of crisis to protect her daughter she’d take the easy way out and make the death look like an accident
