My 705th kite video. This kite is a real eye-catcher, but strictly for light-wind flying.

A magical Moth made to fly majestically at the hands of a master kite flyer. Magnificent! What a surprise Jim, you had spoken of your desire to have one of these beautiful creatures but now you have been drawn to the light. A lovely video record complimented with a perfect music piece.

I've seen the kite many times but today was the first time I've actually seen a Luna Moth. There was a video of an live Luna Moth below your video. It is indeed a beautiful insect and a beautiful kite!

+The Basicbill Channel Thanks, Bill. It's certainly a great light-wind kite. The design isn't strong enough to stand high winds, but that's understandable.

Well done Jim. I enjoyed this video and many others from your stream. One of my friends has this Kite. We flew it briefly a few weeks ago when the winds were even too light for this Kite. I would be interested in knowing what kind or how much weight you added to the spine.
@JimNicholls
@JimNicholls 9 жыл бұрын
+Eugene Lauer I just added a few carabiners right at the bottom of the spine, but I'll find something more permanent soon. The total weight wouldn't have been much, but clearly just enough to change the balance of the kite, as its flying was improved enormously.

Be very careful Jim .That kite is an accident just waiting to happen.I just got mine and I won't risk flying it before a modification or 2. I don't know what Carsten was thinking. But this is a fairly large kite with a cambered 12ft wingspan and most of the stresses are on a simple plastic dihedral with no cross spar support!? Considering the size,there is no way that Premier Kites should have produced this without a cross spar or at the very least a 4 point bridle with 2 more bridle points on the leading edge.
@JimNicholls
@JimNicholls 8 жыл бұрын
+DOLEWDREW I do know of two people who had problems with it, but I understood that Premier had strengthened the construction before I bought mine. I've only flown it in light winds, and will continue to keep it for such. It certainly wouldn't stand up to a lot of stress, I'm sure. Please let me know if you work out a way of making it better.
@DOLEWDREW
@DOLEWDREW 8 жыл бұрын
+Jim Nicholls I plan on reinforcing mine with a 3ft to 4ft cross spar.Because even flying on a light winded day you can never tell when that one big gust is going to come along and cause havoc.

Hi Jim, would you happen to remember the name of the music track used in this video? Beautiful kite, by the way!
@JimNicholls

Hi Lawrence, it's a piece called "Chronicles of the Hundred Flowers Grave" which I "borrowed" from a KZbin video. Yes, a lovely kite, but a little bit fragile so needs care.

As I said, it nose-dived and wouldn't stay up. I fixed it by adding a small weight to the bottom of the spine. It's a lovely kite, but fragile. See my other videos, including: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJO9lGZ9gdh_eJI , kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoG0c2qCfspjo7s , kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3KUc42DbLitatk . other then that Jim, I couldn't come up with any other thought.... one learns alot by going to many websites and supply outfits, for line for example...I know how to spool finally, and know where to get good line at a better price, then from where I was getting it.... live and learn...

+K B All I did was add a bit of weight at the bottom of the spine. I have to work out what I'm going to use as a permanent addition, but almost anything would do to test it. I hope it works out for you, Kendra, as it certainly is beautiful and CAN fly extremely well.

@JimNicholls
@JimNicholls 8 жыл бұрын
+DOLEWDREW Depending on where you are, I wouldn't advise Passion Kites as the best place to get it. Mine came from Into The Wind, who are currently out of stock. Picture Pretty Kites have one, and it's cheaper there anyway, so that would be my recommendation if you want one. Kite when packed down is 40 inches long, so quite compact, and very light.

+DOLEWDREW That could be true. You would need to check for sure, but don't rely too much on the accuracy of the answers you get. Get a firm quote for the postage, which could be expensive from there.
