Remember a summer doo where I used to work many moons ago. The management booked a 'party boat' on the canal. There was a free bar one end, stocked with out of date cans and a toilet at the other. Not much inbetween except a few plates of potted beef and salmon spread butties. We were hammered by the time we got to the first lock and things just went downhill from there. When we left the boat a friend went for a wee, got lost and woke up the next morning in a bush. Needless to say, the next Monday a not unexpected memo came round putting us all on the naughty step...lol. Hair's looking good Mrs B!

I think that beautiful big boat might be a Barge? It is lovely. Have you ever visited Penkridge? I only recently discovered that there is a canal going through the town! My ancestors (the Littletons) built the Church there. My goal is to one day go there by Narrowboat! Hoping for good news next week that your house is sold.

Oh that boat was so beautiful and the paint work was stunning! I said to Mr B we should do an extra lotto ticket!!! We are so close with the house, so very close! I really like the aesthetics of the boat at 14:46. The straight stem and that lovely stern. (And who doesn't like a lovely stern, after all?) I wonder if those features can be found in a narrowboat? There is something reminiscent of the lines of an old fashioned Great Lakes steamship that I find appealing.

The ‘Dutch Barges’ are nice but you are correct, not great on narrow canals. We are at Mercia marina currently, talking to Ian and viewing boats. Ovation 3 had a deposit on it and a fabulous grey prom cover fitted, only for the buyers to pull out of the the contract at the last minute. Our preconceptions have disappeared, and we have changed our minds on our requirements having viewed several boats. We now want a semi trad with a pram hood and an open well deck (with no seating). We need a Pullman dinette. We have decided against a composting toilet in favour of a ceramic bowl cassette. Most of the built in ovens with grills were like caravan equipment, ok for a holiday but not for a live aboard. We want a freestanding slot in cooker with a man size oven 😎. Our search continues....

Contact Rugby Boat Sales in Northampton. If you want new or used boats they can often find them for you!!! There a great company to work with. They don't always list all there boats. Ask for James there..I think oviation 3 is one of the aqualine boats. They make them in Poland and bring them over. Foxes afloat did a video on the build process when they had a BBC channel..

I feel what you are going through. We have now decided to go for a pre-owned boat as we simply can't get excited with the new ones (no offence to anyone with a new boat but we just feel they are all the same and are a wee bit flimsy in terms of fit out) and aren't prepared to go over the budget as we know at some point we will be on a wide beam (not for a good five years yet) Good luck with the search and thank you so much for the comment and taking the time to post. @@LoveLifeTriumph I was talking to them last week and I think everyone is struggling to find boats for the market. Boats are being sold quicker than they can be placed into the market. I guess with Covid19 everyone's had a change of heart in life and staying here for the time being, and not selling up. The other company I've seen is ABNB, near Crick. I can promise you though that not everyone builds the boats cheap and flimsy. It's been interesting to see the canals from a walkers perspective! Enjoying the videos!

That's finesse; a Sheffield boat builder..... Tyler Wilson shells (now operated by Johnathan Wilson) helped his son in law; open up a fit-out company; called Finesse. That boat is one of there's. It's a Dutch barge. They had it at the 2019 crick show; and I can't confirm; but I believe the base model was £400k 🤤... They make some incredible boats. They do narrow, widebeam and Dutch barges.
