yep, exactly! Some people asked me as well how I deal with steep drops next to the road etc. I don't even notice these while riding. I'm focused 100% on the road and what's ahead - only in this "state of mind" biking feels like pure bliss to me! :)

I would say both beautiful AND scary! With roads like that, it's no wonder you take them so well. Seems like you would need lots of focus and concentration on that road. Those tight turns would freak me out but riding them a lot would make you better, I think. Great vid!

danke!! Viel hab ich in der Gegend nicht probieren können, war selbst nur einenhalb Tage dort unterwegs!! Die Fahrt durch den Triglav Nationalpark ist auf jeden fall sehenswert. Nix zum heizen aber wunderbare Landschaft! Ansonsten empfehl ich auf jeden fall auch, zum Lago del Predil zu fahren, der ist ganz in der Nähe und ist wirklich unfassbar schön. Ansonsten kenn ich noch ein paar Pässe in der Gegend, und zwar immer die, die über die Grenze nach Österreich führen. Nassfeld kann ich dir empfehlen, sowohl italienische als auch österr. Seite. Weiter westlich ist der Plöckenpass, der hat mir auf der italienischen Seite viel Spaß gemacht, österr. ist eher mies. Weiter östlich (ganz in der Nähe von Kranjska Gora) ist der Wurzenpass. Den kann man sich auch getrost sparen, nichts besonderes.

Ein typischer Überdrehzahlfahrer der vergisst zu Schalten nur Lärm produziert und auf geraden Strecken schnell fahren möchte. Warum man so bekloppt und angespannt durch so eine schöne Natur fahren muss bleibt mir ein Rätsel.....

Is the popping exhaust caused by the air pressure difference at high altitudes?

nope, it's the aftermarket exhaust itself. The backfires actually get less at higher altitudes on my CB!

If it gets better with high altitude then it must mean that your current air/fuel mixture is too lean (too much air on ground level). Did you retune the carbs after the new exhaust? If not then you could gain a bit of power with readjusting the air/fuel mixture and your engine would run a bit cooler. You can test this without touching the carbs. You can alter the air/fuel mixture by temperarily taping off a small bit of the air intake. That way it will suck in less air. If the idle goes up,when you just taped it off, then the air fuel mixture has become better. Also rev it and hear if it smoothly goes up. Then off course drive it fast, like you always do. Do this test when your bike is warm otherwise the result is not trustable)

rijste94 in theory you are very right. But you will never get rid of the backfires on an old CB500 with an aftermarket exhaust pipe. Thousands have tried it before, no one succeeded :) I wouldn't like to lose the wonderful sound anyway. I'm not a man of perfection, I'm a man who likes character.
