Jonna thank you for this tutorial I think there are some extremely rude and ungrateful people as if you have to make this video. I have made 4 all in which I donated to the children's cancer center. How about saying something kind rude people! She goes moderately because she is not a beginner. There is a pause and rewind button for your convenience to watch as many times as you like. If you don't do tutorials then you might not understand it can take up to 45 mins to upload a 5 minute video. I'm sure she uploads 2 and 3 videos because it takes over 1 hour to upload a 15 minute video. If you used Google to get here then you know what the finished blanket looks like in some fashion get a grip and be appreciative opposed to telling her what to do when she graciously does it for free. Sorry Jonna to hijack your page but I can't stand a computer bully. Thank you thank you and thank you again for your time and talent.

May I just add my appreciation for the fact that you do not have oddly colored or shaped nails to distract from your tutorial. I know this sounds odd, but some of the instructors have such distracting manicures or chipped polish on their nails that I have difficulty concentrating on the instructions. You, on the other hand, are not only very articulate in your directions but make learning easy and a total pleasurable experience. I look forward to making this beautiful Shells Baby Blanket!

Thank you Jonna for your kindness in sharing this beautiful design. I work better from written patterns. Instead of following you, I wrote as you talked. After Row 5, I will do an SC or HDC all around to block it for a granny square. This should give me about a 7" square. I think it will work. Love your blue accent. I will also be making lapghans for wounded warriors, using "manly" colors, of course.

This is the best beautiful shells blanket tutorial I have seen. Thank you! I have one tip for beginners. I put a removable stitch marker on each corner, and I move them with every round. So it will be placed on the chain 3 space, or on the single crochet between the two shells, depending of the round I’m working on. That helps me a lot.

Jonna, I just picked up a crochet hook after about 20 years andI made my first granny square using your Shell Stictch tutorial. It took me a bit to get used to the crochet language again, but it came out gorgeous and your tutorial is very, very good! I would like to make a full size afghan, say 60" X60". Can you suggest how many skeins of each color I would need? I have a number 5 hook (it's the only one I have right now). Would you suggest something different for a larger afghan. Thank you again for your wonderful tutorial!

+Darla Cueto I'm so happy to hear you are crocheting again! It's great the video worked so well for you! 5.00mm hook is my go to for almost every project. With this pattern I would suggest 2800-3500 yards for a 60x60 I know it sounds like a lot. But you can also just use a skein or two and see how you use it. It's different for everyone. I'm assuming that inches..... thank you for watching and commenting 🌸🌸🌸🌸

hey Jonna! Thank you being such a great teacher. I do need a little help with this blanket though. I'm heading into the 3rd round but am stuck on where to slip stitch me last stitch of round 2. Do I make a SC as my last stitch and just chain 4 or do I sl st? Unfortunately I've only been crocheting for about 8 months and have been asked to make a this blanket for a Christening-yikes! So nervous!!!!! Hope to hear back!
@JonnaMartinezCrochet8 жыл бұрын
Hello! I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to reply. You should slip stitch. I'm sure your blanket will be beautiful! Good for you for going for it. Stretching out of our comfort zone can help you grow from beginner to experienced crocheter. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. 🌸🌸🌸🌸
@jerseygirl515828 жыл бұрын
+Jonna Martinez wow, you replied so quickly and I'm so grateful! I appreciate the vote of confidence! Just out of curiosity is it a rule of thumb to sl st to the top of a finished side when working in the round? Does that make sense? I'm guessing the sl st is to the ch on the left side not the sc in the middle. So will if always be a sl st like that? I'm sorry to ask another question.
@JonnaMartinezCrochet8 жыл бұрын
Usually you will slip stitch when completing a round any round unless it is done in what I call a spiral round when there is so "end" of row. You will slip stitch into the single crochet. I would end every row with a slip stitch. 😊 Ask away. I try to answer as best I can. It's great to hear from my subscribers! 🌸🌸

How many skeins of white did you use? I'm going to use alternating pink and grey so I'll get half the number in pink and half in grey. I'm also going to use white in between the pink and grey, like you did with the blue variegated. How much of the blue variegated did you use? Thank you!

+Shiawassee Scheduler this was a small lovey blanket..... About 16x16? So I only used one 700 yard cone of cotton and I didn't even use the whole thing.... And much less of the white. I'm sorry I'm not more help. I am planing on making a very large beautiful shells blanket. But I'm very busy with other crochet projects now. 🌸🌸🌸🌸 Thank you for watching my video and commenting!

Thank you for answering me so quickly. I am sorry I sounded cranky. Just a little over tired. Your tutorial is wonderful and I think I have it now. So, if I wanted to make a throw blanket would I just keep going around and around till it is the size I want? I tried to find the written pattern, but cannot find it. Lots of other shell stitche patterns, but I can't seem to find this particular pattern. Again, thank you

+Gale Henwood it's okay! I can see how that part is a little frustrating. I should have completed the row. I'm taking notes for my new videos 😉 Have you checked Ravelry? Also I think the link in the description box still works. Thank you for watching Oh and yes continue until desired size 🌸💕🌸

@JonnaMartinezCrochet7 жыл бұрын
+jeaneane miller I've not made one that big. But I would buy 4-5 of the 400yrd super savers. And use an H 5.00mm or I 5.5mm Thank you for watching and commenting 🌸🌸🌸

Very good tutorial! I can't wait to get started on this project! Thanks for taking the time to film it. I don't suppose you have any idea about how much yarn you used or the finished size do you? All the patterns I looked at don't have that info listed. I'm kinda OCD about having that first. Afraid I won't be able to get the right dye lot if I run out of a yarn! Thanks again!

Oh no wait! The blanket you can make in any size. If you are going with a queen or bigger I recommend 2800 yards at least. Sorry for the mix up.

This is a wonderful video, easy to understand and follow. I got it the first time around which is not usual for me! Thanks! Question: I've made two baby blankets and neither of them don't lay perfectly flat. They look fine and the moms love them, but I wonder what I'm doing that is making this wavy- ness instead of laying flat. I know that when I crochet in the round, if I've increased too many times it gets that wave. I counted my stitches and 'V's and I'm not adding any or leaving any out. Any ideas? thanks again.
@JonnaMartinezCrochet6 жыл бұрын
Have you been blocking your blankets? Also maybe try a smaller hook. If you crochet loosely there will be more fluffiness to the blanket, not a bad thing though. I’m very happy you liked my tutorial! Thank you for watching and commenting. 🌸🌸🌸
@nancyandaharon6 жыл бұрын
I blocked it after washing, but the wave didn't lay flat. Like I said, the moms liked them, just me being a perfectionist! I wanted them to lay flat. I'm making another one, and I'll experiment with a different hook size. I do crochet loose, so that might be the problem. thanks for your help!
