Oh beautiful Star of Bethlehem
Shining afar through shadows dim
Giving a light for those who long have gone
And guiding the wise men on their way
Unto the place where Jesus lay
Beautiful star of Bethlehem shine on
Oh beautiful Star of Bethlehem
Shine upon us until the glory dawn
Oh give us Thy light to light the way
Into the land of perfect day
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem shine on
Oh beautiful Star, the hope of light
Guiding the pilgrim through the night
Over the mountain `til the break of dawn
Snd into the light of perfect day
It will give out a lovely ray
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem shine on
Oh beautiful Star of Bethlehem
Shine upon us until the glory dawn
Oh give us Thy light to light the way
Into the land of perfect day
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem shine on
Oh beautiful Star, the hope of rest
For the redeemed the good and blest
Yonder in glory when the crown is won
For Jesus is now that Star divine
Brighter and brighter He will shine
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem shine on
Oh beautiful Star of Bethlehem
Shine upon us until the glory dawn
Oh give us Thy light to light the way
Into the land of perfect day
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem shine on
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem shine on
"Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" is a bluegrass Christmas song written in 1938 by Robert “Fischer” Boyce a dairy farmer, who had 11 children. The kids were being especially rowdy one day, so he went to the milk barn to have some peace. He sat on a stool next to the cows where he came up with this song. Later that night, he worked with his daughter Nanny Lou to compose the piano part and harmonies, which he would later sing with his wife Cora at church each Christmas. Cora wept with joy every time she sang it with him - she loved this song and was so proud of Fischer and Nanny Lou for writing it.
