Marlena probability symbolises the art, the music, the beauty. She saved him from desperation, but he now needs her, and when he doesn't feel her close (that is when he doesn't find his art, his music) he feels lost and desperate. Therefore he tells her "come back home" which means "always stay with me". Without his art he's afraid he disappears.

many Italians do not believe in the legitimacy of this year of victories, they believe that there is an external hand implemented to compensate for the deprivations and oppression of the past, we think this way because unlike the legitimate victories this time there is no emotional resonance in the people. something broke and in my opinion there is something to worry about.

Madlena, and it surprised me too ... even if it is a hypothesis, it is the union of the names MARia MaddaLENA = MARLENA (Mary Magdalene from the Bible). And you can see it partly from the text and partly from the details of the video. Maybe it's a publicity stunt but the music, lyrics, Damiano's voice and the video are spectacular. "Marlena Torna a casa" means "Marlena come back home". Marlena is a female name but in the song probably represents their inspiration, their muse. Throughout the song the singer is invoking her to come back home, so that they can go on with their art. Marlena in the video is represented as a hurt or ill woman who is not capable of coming back home
@vpersiana3 жыл бұрын
My take is that before the music he was on the edge between being a victim (of the judgments of others) and a judge (judging others according to the canons of society), the bright and shiny chains are the prejudices, what's the norm in our society, which is comfortable but make you a prisoner of prejudice. Music sets him free.
@alexgatti753 жыл бұрын
Marlena is the music, the art, she convinced him to pack his things and leave, she consoled him when he was desperate, and he ask her to be with him again because without music he feels cold and he is afraid he'll disappear. To have her inspiration again and do music again he will climb all the heights even injuring his hands during the climb (covered in blood). Before he was a madman, desperate, and now he feel blessed. At least this is my interpretation

I'm sure many people came here to tell you what the song is supposed to mean according to the band, but I feel sometimes it's nice to just enjoy a song for what it means to the listener, songs are conceived with an idea in mind, sure, but once they're out in the world we can all listen to it and just give it our own interpretation. So don't apologize for saying what the songs tells you, it's fun to research after, but keep those emotions it gave you 'cause they're only yours and should be cherished.

I really love your reaction and the way you struggle with the meaning. Everyone gets lost in the meaning, if they don't put together the fact that Marlena is the inspiration and the possibility to freely express himself with the music, and that Marlena (the inspiration) sometimes disappears. Marlena changed his life, made him throw behind him what oppressed and distressed him and, thanks to her, he is now able to face everything. Before she arrived "he was just a fool" who sometimes wanted to hurt himself or worse (cuts on his wrists) and who didn't care for himself. He felt like a victim and therefore judged probably without mercy, then Marlena arrived and, with her, the light that gave him a purpose and serenity.

Having an opinion is the most amazing thing in the world. The problem is when people have no idea of how to express themselves. I could like something that you don't like, or viceverse, it's normal and it's fine. I can try to change your mind, you can try to change my mind, but even if that doesn't happen, it's fine too. I just think that people have no idea of what a healty discussion looks like (Some people say: if you have nothing nice to say, just don't say anything) Talking about the song, I'm happy that you like Maneskin and their amazing talent! Marlena is the personification of passion, inspiration, music, love, she's a muse. Maneskin's passion is music and Marlena is their muse. In this song apparently they lost Marlena and they were asking her to come back because without her they can't live. They're affraid to dissapear: Marlena torna a casa che ho paura di sparire. Have a nice weekend :)

@vincenzopiras97653 күн бұрын
Many people have said that Marlena is his muse, a personification of his artistic inspiration. However, it is important to note that Marlena is a portmanteau of the two names Maria (Mary) and Maddalena. So she is not simply his muse but for him and the rest of the group she has a real saving meaning, which is evident throughout the song. It is no coincidence that Damiano comes from a Catholic culture in which the protective figure of Mary is central (many churches or entire towns in Italy bear the name of Mary).
@gennarodecandia59383 жыл бұрын
Simply put, Marlena is the muse but she is not a woman, she is referring to music. In the text "marlena returns home" she speaks of her difficulty in composing texts because she has lost inspirations. However Marlena is back and also with arrogance.

I congratulate you on your willingness and commitment in understanding the meaning of the text, others before me have already explained the meaning of the song (Marlena is the attitude, talent and inspiration, first uncertain, lost, then rediscovered , etc.), we can say that the Italian language is their fourth musical 'instrument', the truth is that for many reasons the beauty and expressiveness of a language different from the most common ones, such as English and Spanish, is never admitted. Opportunistic, commercial, and often ego reasons, this mechanism deprives everyone of something we could enjoy, this song, as well as 'Twenty Years' or 'Coraline' just to name a few of the Maneskin are the proof. The Italian discography has hundreds of almost unknown pearls beyond the Italian borders, perhaps the fault of the record companies, after all it doesn't matter, but know that there is much more to discover.

My interpretation: the song tells the story of the relationship between an artist and his inspiration (or Muse) he calls Marlena. He was rejected by society, Marlena saved him. He went on a journey with her (and he would stay with her forever of course) but at some point she left, and he's calling her back. In the video, the "broken" ballerina is the artist. She slowly comes to life (at the start of the video she's basicly dead) thanks to the Muse (the second ballerina).

Under one reaction video the uploaders asked how a reaction could be more enjoyable for all when you want or have to care of the lyrics too. There were two main solutions given. To me almost equivalent. I'd prefer the video before, then the lyrics (edited or full lenght, I'd prefer full lenght). Someone else preferred before the lyrics, then the video. Now I realize that more and more people are witnessing blocks due to continuous copyrights infringements. My suggestion is to blur the video. If still blocked add some sound distortion. People who love the artists know what's in the video. They can kinda see and hear what's actually hidden.

Vol I" (rock) about freedom of expression, identity etc. The way to write lyrics for the songs in the second album is different: more essential and direct so it helps to understand the meaning of them.
