My dog howled only twice, ever. It was in the same instance, but it was beautiful to hear. I play a game called Wolf Quest which requires A LOT of listening to wolf howls for marking territory/bonding with the pack, so my ears and brain are very familiar with the way a wolf realistically howls. I was outside with her one day and tried howling in front of her. It took about three times until she howled too. My brother was inside, about to come outside, but I'm pretty sure he heard the first howl and it made him come out faster. He got to see the second time she howled after I howled after her first howl. Was so cool.
