The reason I like your videos so much, and the reason I keep watching is because, unlike a lot of others , you not only explain what needs to be done and how you’re going to tackle it at the start, but you keep the viewers in the loop throughout. Many - too many - other videos start out with the job at hand, but from then on until the closing, nothing, not a word. Watching the machines at work is fun, but without updates it gets real old real fast and soon I’m looking around. For instance, I loved the break you took to refill the CTL. You didn’t have to keep that, but it really added a lot to the video knowing little facts like how much the machine consumes. You also keep us informed about sudden changes of plans. You know well that no job ever goes exactly as planned and I love the fact you think enough of us watching to keep us in the loop. Watch a lot of other videos and you’d swear the machine never runs out of fuel, never breaks down, never needs maintaining and everything goes perfectly. Your videos tell a story, from beginning to end. They are well shot and extremely well edited. (Your editor is marvelous.) You also go to the trouble to make sure no two videos are the same. Different jobs require different tasks. This is why I watch and will keep on watching. By the way, nice touch with the anecdote about the client wanting to try out the Ventrac. If he buys one, you should get a commission from the company. 😉

Forestry mulching is fantastic! And it leaves the nutrients to return to the soil. Fight the urge to rake it all up. 50% will be gone in 2 years, 80% in 5 years. Keep nitrogen on it and the chips will break down much faster.

I’m working on clearing my land right now in East Texas how do you know what trees to keep and what to get rid of there’s so many good looking trees of course I’ll try to keep the large ones for sure

Start identifying them and you'll understand which you'll want to keep. Native vs non-native, hardwoods vs softwoods, "junk" tree vs a tree with good wildlife/firewood/lumber potential

Must be an older video than the last or you didn't want to use the demo grinder. Although you did stall the grinder some it still did a much better job than the demo grinder. So far, I know it takes time to get use to the newer one and all plus machine setting but seems the older model is a better fit . Use , time and all . Can't wait to see how well it works on other projects.

Correct Todd, that is the original unit and Fecon. Easy to tell, the old Fecon has a pressure gauge and does not stall like the lighter and wider "new" Fecon.

You've got to find someone; friend, family, outsider to rent from that has a small piece of property to burn on. Letsdig18 has "burnFridays." It's all he [or a single person does] on that day. You could easily hire a person willing to tend a fire all day long. The large cement blocks used to section off the different stone/barks ppl purchase at garden centers would work great if stacked 3-4 high in a large semi-circle to contain the heat to help burn more efficiently. I'm 62, and retired; I'd love a once a week all day burn job; even 2 days if needed. An old skid steer, and I'd be off. Use a lrg. trailer w/sides vs dump truck; you'd save $ in the end; less wear/tear on Fecon/ASV. jmo

By doing this sort of "beautifying" you are actually creating an opportunity for invasive species to move in and cause long term damage to the forest. After mowing/mulching like this, you've just created constant work for yourself...Unless you continuously mow these areas, they will get taken over by honeysuckle or other invasive plants that thrive on disturbance. You're also making it impossible for new trees to survive and become the next generation of canopy trees. Old growth forests take care of themselves, but when you do this sort of thing, you're preventing a forest from ever becoming old growth. Just something to consider to anyone else considering mowing/mulching their wooded land.

There isn't much of a fire wood market around here. I don't know anyone who burns wood around here.
