Each evening, Belle joins the Beast for dinner. They gradually come to know and trust each other, like two strangers that everything conspires to keep apart. Even as Belle fights off his advances, she tries to unravel the riddles of the Beast and his domain. At night, fragments of the Beast’s past come to her in dreams. From the tragic story they tell, she learns that this wild and solitary creature was once a handsome prince. Armed with only her courage and her open heart, Belle triumphs over danger. She succeeds in releasing the Beast from the evil spell, and discovers true love.

I like the actress but she's lacking and the Dress is just MEH. There a lot that I like in this version. I think costumes and set design are great. I love the incorporation of the backstory about the original princess and I think the performances are really good. I love that it sticks fairly closely to the original story by Madame de Villeneuve. I think the love story is a bit rushed. AND let’s just be honest. For better or worse this is the only version where there is legitimate sexual tension between beauty and the beast. Make no mistake this isn’t the dancing with the talking candles sugar sweet romance like the Disney. This beast as in the OG versions wants to in his own words “fill her desires” and she’s kind of into it. They almost kiss at one point and that’s before he’s transformed back into a human. I really want a version done of this which is like close to the book which keeps the darkness, the romance, the dream elements.

@@varduhi81 question for you: in the end scene do you think it’s belle and the beast in the house with the children or is it a mother telling a story to her children? Cause I’ve always thought the idea was it was a mother as the narrator telling the story to her children and all the characters were based on people who were actually in their life. Like how the kids grandfather was beauty’s father in the story and how their was the beast was their real father in real life? Sort of how when you read a story and you substitute yourself and people you know as the characters?

Honestly my biggest problem with the 2014 and the 2017 remake is how they portray Belle/Beauty as strong, smart, spirited but lacking any kindness, empathy, or politeness. Disney’s animated Belle was smart and would not be submissive but she was still kind, polite, and respectful toward everyone she knew including the antagonists. This made her extremely likeable because she had a loving heart but wasn’t a push over. But Watson’s Belle and Lea’s Belle seem so rude, haughty, and superior acting. Like they’re actually trying to pick a fight with the beast instead of standing up to him. And both actresses seemed to have this air about them where they act like they’re better than everyone else.

I understand how you felt, but if you shift you focus on Belle's fireflies dreams - you'll realise how her love for him started taking shape. It's quite subtle, not very romantic but still love. Especially when she understands how he was cursed for killing his own wife. It was his dead wife's magic fireflies that were still trying to save him by telling Belle the story.

@@fabs8498 Yes women are strong, women can do anything, women don’t need men, blah, blah, blah. Do you have any idea how boring female characters like this have become? Yeah they’re strong but do they actually have personality? And there’s literally no romance between her and the beast in this version. I mean seriously, if you’re not going to use romance then why are you adapting a love story?
@Rose-xy5pe
@Rose-xy5pe 15 күн бұрын
@@fabs8498 But it’s a love story for heaven’s sake. Yes you write them as complex or flawed but you also have to write them as someone you can fall in love with. And there is strength in compassion, kindness doesn’t mean you’re a pushover. Everyone thinks that beauty’s best character trait is her intelligence but I think it’s her kindness.

This was a beautiful attempt to portray the adaptation, closest to the original story. However, it felt rushed and at no point did they explore how beauty and beast fall in love. So made it awkward when she was admitting her love for him, it came out of no where. I wished they have better writers that would have helped bring the plot better to life. Surprising this being a french film they focus more on the romance but there was barely any of that explored within the main characters. I still enjoyed this version, loved they included how he became a beast in detail but would also liked some focus on how the main characters come to love each other, just seems to be missing a whole part here. I understand french- thank goodness cause the eng subs do an okay job with the translation. Maybe a preference but i think europeans do love stories better/create more beautiful cinema. Italian/spanish verison was amazing as well. Cinderella italian one was amazing! Better than disney if im being honset

@@盧璘壽로인수 yes it does. It doesn’t spell it out for you, but she develops a friendship with and struggles bc she doesn’t know how to love him. In her dreams she is dancing with human version of him (not the nymph like in the movie). When generally making a film, you want to empathize the chemistry and the love part of the story otherwise the film will fail at box office as this one did! The film lacked exploration between the characters so when they “fell” in love the chemistry fell flat. The translation in french better explains the original story! Every single translation and version has the belle loving the beast for more than meets the eye. “For Beauty is found within” as the lesson implicates in all versions.

I bought this movie after needing to recover from seeing the Disney live action. 😅 I am still a major fan of the Disney animated version. ❤️ I don’t think the live action captured the original charm, warmth, and wonder of the animated tale. Emma Watson just didn’t have Belle in her the way she did Hermione Granger (much more suiting to her personality); she doesn’t sing or walk around with an air of wonder and excitement; she just looks sullen throughout the whole thing. And even if she is a brunette, I didn’t think she looked like Belle. I think Emmy Rossum would have been an amazing choice. The downside if that was the case though was going from Shameless to be a Disney princess lol. But shoot, she looks like Belle and can sing. This French movie authentically represents European folklore. I definitely was not getting the wam and fuzzy Disney feels watching it, lol!! But it was just a gorgeous movie that did justice to the story!!

The Disney beast look so cgi over charged that never felt organic or threatening, just weird looking. The only good thing was he got a good song. Emma Watson did´t feel the role as well as we expected with so many changes on the character. Even Gaston and Le Fou got way better wrote as character than Belle since they do now have a purpose and a explanation about their motives. The effects that made it visually stunning is something that comes with the Disney production [250 millions!], so is not a plus. The 1991 version is still way better.
