For the glass palette, you can go to target or Walmart and get a glass coaster and it does the same thing for much less money.
@brandimunguia8 жыл бұрын
www.target.com/p/thirstystone-alabaster-glass-coasters-white/-/A-17294162 10.99 for a set of 4 coasters vs 35$ for the Scott Barnes glass palette and the coaster have rubberized feet so they don't move or slide on your beauty table or whatever surface you are doing your makeup on. If you do want to spend a little more money for a more decorative one, they have cuter sets for 25-35$ but you still get a set of 4.

@LeahVassin8 жыл бұрын
+beccaisinvisible no actually. They're made for different things, & are different in density and texture.. Some aren't as soft. Some are softer. Some are for moisturizers, some are for concealer/foundation. Lol
@XxQWERTpersonYxX8 жыл бұрын
+Leah Dmitruk ...why would you need a sponge for applying moisturizer? 😅
@LeahVassin8 жыл бұрын
+Sara Green because some people break out easily and don't like to touch their face with their hands, so they use a beauty blender. But it's not only used for moisturizer. They're all different in density and how much product they soak up, so some people prefer different ones for their makeup depending on how they want it.

I actually love that they are underrated! It's a little strange but when a certain brand is hyped esp on YT or through influencers, I find it super blah. Almost like my expectations haven't been met. Like the Hourglass palettes and blushes. Swatched them in Sephora Singapore yesterday for the first time and I was upset about its immense glitter, which somehow nobody I watched on YT mentioned. So yes, keep the Balm underrated ;)

Tip for cleaning Beauty Blenders (and all of your other brushes/tools): Zote, a solid bar of laundry soap, is only a few dollars at Walmart, lasts literally 6 months or more, and gets EVERY stain out. It's formulated so you dont break out, etc. and has a very light lemon pie kind of scent, not heavy and PineSol-ish at all. Amy Macedo did a brush cleaning video on it if you don't believe me; I highly recommend you all go watch it! It saved my wallet! Great reviews as always, Tati!

I used to not like the micro mini ones either UNTIL I used them for between my brows! I do my eyebrows before foundation so that I can clean them up with concealer at foundation etc. So to then use the tiny beauty blender to blend the foundation between them is great!! Trying to use a brush or regular beauty blender always ends with me getting foundation on the inner parts of my brows :) so if anyone else has that problem they're great for that xx

+manardi55 you can speak to a Beauty Blender account executive or try looking on their website. It is under the menu options and then also under Beauty Blender defined it does go through each one and what they are for and what they do. However, since I have been a professional make up artist for 15 years I also know many people who have worked for Beauty Blender and the training they give their employees- so sometimes I just have the knowledge from that. I started putting a thick layer of olive oil on my lips for a few minutes to hydrate my lips and sometimes using the stila water plumper to smooth my lips. Then I apply it and carve the lips with a little concelear on the brush and sometimes I bake around the lips if I know I can't retouch for a good few hoyrs. it's became one of my favorite lipsticks and I can't wait to get my hand on redrum and rich blood. With drug lord and I'm nude I could see problems because of the lightness of color. I'm sorry they aren't working out for you, to each their own I guess.

The blender cleanser is amazing and totally worth the money. I have used my current blender for a year, I use the BB cleanser after every use, and my BB is still like new. I only use a little bit of cleanser and it does the job. I still have cleaner in the bottle after a year of use, using it 5+ times a week. It lasts a long time. My first BB broke apart like you mentioned when I used other cleansers. I had it less than 3 months and it fell apart. I don't use other cleansers anymore. Use the BB cleanser and your BB will last longer.
@laurenmunday90928 жыл бұрын
Same! I feel that baby shampoo doesn't do anything to breakdown the makeup in my BB but the cleanser works miracles. Not a fan of the scent but I think it works well and I've made it last six months and I'm only half way through the bottle(small one). Might try the solid next!
@nararabbit18 жыл бұрын
A solid cleanser is going to give you a lot more cleaning product into your sponge vs any water based liquid soap. I have not used the BB solid cleanser, but I've had a similarly long and good life from my beauty blender using a Jojoba shell soap bar from Crabtree & Evelyn. :)

Tati, THANK YOU! This was SO HELPFUL for me! I had gotten Bunny's beauty box and she gave us those little mini beauty blenders, which were my first beauty blender. I was surprised by how awesome they were and could finally see why everyone raved about them, because I'd tried a dupe before and it was kind of useless. After the minis I've been wanting to buy the full size but hadn't yet gotten the chance. Then I saw this and it was SO HELPFUL. I am totally going to get the solid, liner designer, and original now thanks to you! They all sound like exactly the things I want right now. And I really appreciate you being the way you always are, very helpful and thoughtful and honest with all the rest, because it helps me determine what is and is not worth the money for me. Seriously, I cannot thank you enough for all your hard work and this channel. You're my favorite makeup reviewer, hands down, and that's saying a lot because there are a number of people I follow who I also love a lot and really value their opinions. I believe it is a rip off for the average makeup user. It is a nice tool though for makeup artists (especially for beginner makeup artists). You can't just stick a credit card or scotch tape on your clients face. This seems more professional.

Yeah I agree the brand seems to really be reaching for new ideas. I'll just never understand how they can charge so much for something that probably cost less than a quarter to make. I understand they want to make a profit and I get that, but even charging something like $10 would still be making them a huge profit and wouldn't seem so much like price gouging.
@emelie70858 жыл бұрын
of course it is. like, they are freaking great, but you only need one big and you are good to go. the different colors and sizes is just business bullshit to earn more money.

What I really like about BB is the fact that it is made in USA and also by hand. So they employ people as well as having their factory in USA which I think is amazing.

A cheaper alternative for the solid beauty blender cleaner is plain bar soap (literally $1) or hotel bar soap (free). Especially if you are going to only keep a beauty blender for 3 or 4 months. And cleaning after every use isn't excessive, its necessary for a sponge. Also a really nice trick with a beauty blender is to pull down your waterline with it instead of using your finger, helps reduce wrinkles. BTW love your videos Tati!
@LauraNeuzeth8 жыл бұрын
I got the black Beauty Blender and I regret getting that one over the original Beauty Blender. If you guys are looking for an affordable option, get the Earth Therapeutics sponge. The individual pink sponge is very similar to the original Beauty Blender and only like $7/8 at Bed Bath & Beyond or Kohl's. Just make sure you get the pink one sold individually, because the other colored sponges or the ones sold as a duo are made out of a different material.

I just use regular liquid hand soap to clean my beauty blenders ! Wouldn't the beauty blender solid end up getting bacteria in it if you're rubbing the dirty blender all over it?
@kyidyl8 жыл бұрын
No more than a bar of soap would, I think, especially if you're rinsing it after. I use the liquid soap too, but just because it's what I have on hand. I have noticed tho that it tends to absorb into the sponge weird and you have to use a lot to get all of the foundation out, so IDK maybe the solid is worth a shot.

Normal bar soap works just as well as the solid cleanser
@ruthcorson49048 жыл бұрын
I will say that the cleanser has actually worked WAY better for me than any solid soap or liquid hand soap. The other soaps only cleaned the surface, while the BB Solid Cleanser really got deeeep down into the sponge and cleaned sh*t I didn't know was hiding in my BB sponge. I got it as a gift and it's lasted me a while. Plus, it works super well on my makeup brushes. I wouldn't knock it till you try it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@beccaisinvisible8 жыл бұрын
I use the solid cleanser to clean my sponge and brushes, it immediately pulls out any makeup. The soap easily rinses off any makeup so it's not sitting in the container. Pretty much any soap works by trapping dirt and oil in little bubbles and then rinsing them away; there's no difference here so bacteria won't sit on the soap. As she said though, keep the top open for it to dry

Late to the game here, but I highly recommend washing your BeautyBlender with Dawn dish soap. I've used both the BB solid cleanser (left a residue much like all solid bar soap and took for freakin ever to rinse out) and a variety of other liquid cleaners. With Dawn it takes me maybe a minute to get it completely looks-brand-new clean. I've washed it before every use for more than a year, and it still looks and feels like the day I bought it.

Keep the plastic container it came with. I keep mine in my under-sink cabinet, lid off, for ease, but I keep the lid at the bottom of my container, so I can just pop it back on when I travel, so it's completely closed and not just exposed. I just pull it out when I need it, then I wash my blender, after every use, and just lie it on its side on top of the container it comes with, to dry. Once dry, I put it back in the container and put it back in my cabinet so it's not just exposed on my counter.

Not a "pro tip" BUT: if you sanitize your beauty blender with rubbing alcohol before application, and rinse it out, the sponge get about 2X bigger and softer. I can't apply my foundation anymore without doing this first 😅

I love your videos Tati, you're my favorite. With all due respect however (I don't know if you actually do have OCD or don't) but Obsessive compulsive disorder is a serious, debilitating mental illness and should not be used as an adjective. Ive never personally suffered from it, but from what I hear being unable to stop washing your hands until they are red and raw, and having the obsessive need to participate in rituals sounds horrific and I believe we should respect that for individuals with OCD, it's more than just 'needing things to be clean'. With such a large audience, I think you should just be mindful of the way you're describing things because most likely a viewer of your could be suffering from OCD and feel invalidated because yet another person has used OCD as a way to describe their need for 'cleanliness and neatness'.

Your kind heart shines through, making you my top favorite to watch here on KZbin! Thank you!! I have A GREAT ALTERNATIVE for the Beauty Blender Hard Soap Cleanser, and MUCH more affordable, (Not that the name-brand hard soap Beauty Blender cleanser is BAD, it's just really pricey for a bar of soap): I use a bar of Antibacterial Soap, the same as I use in the shower!! "Safeguard" specifically. I keep a bar in a cup where I keep my BBs then just grab it and clean my BB after I'm finished with all my makeup. AND, I nuke it in the Microwave once a week. Easy, and much more affordable than the name-brand Beauty Blender Bar Cleanser. Hope this helps!!!!

I think Real Techniques sponge is a great dupe for the Beauty Blender for anyone who does not want to spend that kind of money. I wash my brushes with olive oil and dish washing soap. Pour both onto a dish and swirl the brush into both of them. Next continue to swirl the brush on the cleaner part of the dish. Then rinse your brush making sure the water does not get into the ferrel (metal wrap) of the brush. Squeeze out excess water and pat dry with a paper towel. Dry upside down overnight. I wash my sponge with hand soap and it seems to work just fine. Thanks for the vid! = )

Hey Tati, just fyi, the liquid cleanser is anti-bacterial. That's why I love it, and that's why I prefer using it for my Beauty Blender over something like baby shampoo. I use it for my brushes too. I just simply refuse to use any brush cleanser that doesn't have anti-bacterial properties.
