I'm pretty sure she is evil in the original source material though. ================ I kind of think the folklore is based of a dream. I find dreams always have hidden, inferable information. In this case, I think the meaning is: The magic mirror and Snow White are really living robots ⚕🤖. The magic mirror in the queen's chambers and is why the old queen and the new queen are empowered with magic. The kingdom has questionable taste in women so the king's old wife and new wife are both evil 😈. Snow White is really evil. The colours referenced are double entendres for her cold heart, passionate bloodlust, and evil nature. The old queen made her with the magic mirror, out of spite for the kingdom, before she decides to die and move on to the afterlife. Snow White is even more evil than the new queen, as she manipulates people using her mind control powers, and casually betrays friends and family. The new queen is like "there is only room for one arch-villain in this kingdom" and decides to kill the competition. There is no mention of true love 💗 in the source material for Snow White. It seems to imply mind-control-born obsession and lust instead. It seems unlikely the prince would know her personality while she is in a coma anyway. Also, the prince is presumably her brother. They are both children of royalty in the same kingdom. So it is incestuous. He presumably does not know Snow White is his sister. She presumably does. However, she only cares about the money and power from the marriage because she is evil 😈. Snow white is immune to choking and poison, due to being a robot, though her programming is to pretend to be human. Thus, she goes into a coma. The ambiguously written ending is actually Snow White finally being killed for good with the heat of the iron shoes. Which she is vulnerable to. The new queen reflects on how she accidentally became the anti-hero.

Snow White is my most favorite Disney princess since i was a kid (I'm 21 now) i love to watch her movie repeatedly even today. She's not a warrior princess like Mulan or an adventurer at heart like Moana but she has her own strength that makes her stand out from the other princesses, that's kindness and hopefulness. She's very demure and soft spoken but people mistook her gentleness as a weakness when she had endured being treated like a slave by the evil queen, survived assassination from the huntsman, helped the dwarves and taking care of their house, and once again survived an assassination from the poison apple. Yet despite all that she stayed kind and believed that she will met her true love someday. It disgust me that the rachel zegler live adaptation of this movie THREW AWAY her gentleness and made her all bossy and bltchy. I saw the leaked scene of rachel's snow white ordering around the dwarves to clean their own home when in the original animated movie, she cleaned the house because she thought the ones who lived in the cottage were ORPHANS, and she thought if she cleaned it then maybe they'll let her stay. That's the whole point of that scene! Her kindness is what made the dwarves accept her!

There is a quote from Snow White that I always remember: "Rags cannot hide her gentle grace" Grace has a double meaning, it can mean physical beauty, and yes Snow White is physically attractive, but often it also means treating hardship with dignity, acceptance, and always maintaining kindness. The evil queen is the definition of growing old ungracefully. She is obsessing over her physical appearance and acting vindictive to desperately hold on to it, which no one in the film admires, and ultimately leads to her demise. The show's message is that instead of fixating on physical appearances, we should accept what we have with grace. In a modern world where superficial materialism is everywhere, it's message is even more poignant.

Back in the day, movies were more focused on entertainment than character psychology. As such, Disney prioritized the seven dwarves, mice, and fairies in the first three Disney princess movies over the actual leads (or subject, in Aurora's case), usually for the sake of humor. The reduced focus on the latter characters makes them easy to misconstrude because we don't see them as much.
@andrewchung29402 ай бұрын
There's also the fact that the realistic style characters were harder to animate. Plus, audiences and critics most likely didn't notice this as a problem also because the side characters are reacting to the main princess. Since their actions are motivated by their love or hatred for the princess character, audiences could therefore be invested in the main princess' journey. It's not necessarily about the princess' character arc. It's more about how everyone reacts around her.
@OpticalSorcerer2 ай бұрын

@OpticalSorcerer About Florian: Disney did plan for a whole subplot with him, where the Queen got him locked in her dungeon in a fit of jealousy. Then, the prince would have made a grand escape from the castle and searched for Snow White until he found her in the glass coffin. That's the gist of what I got, and if it sounds similar to Sleeping Beauty's Prince Philip, that is quite correct. The deleted plot points made it to Sleeping Beauty, when animators got better at animating realistic human figure.

I've really been enjoying her resilience and undefeatable ball of sunshine positivity as I've been researching the story and the character to inform my own retelling of the story and it's been a lot of fun expanding on her character and story. She's such a lil cutie pie! How could people hate her?? She's adorable and she's just doing her best and she's been through a lot and came out of that struggle as a survivor and because this is a fairytale, she was rewarded for her resilience through hardship. That's what EVERYONE wants, nobody wants to just continue to struggle for no reason with no way out, she represents the ideal that we can all hope for. She has unbreakable hope that things WILL work out and she just keeps trying to survive in the meantime. That's a mindset that I've been living on BEFORE I even took the time to break her character and story down, so I already get it. And she's not a dummy either! She's just a bit too trusting, because she's a kind and gentle person who just wants to help people. After a life of being isolated with a mean stepmom she's probably experiencing people being respectful and even nice towards her for the first time since she was a small child, so I think it's a little reasonable that she doesn't know all the red flags yet, she is 14, she's literally still figuring that stuff out. Sometimes teenagers make a bad choice by trusting the wrong person because they don't have the right combination of experience, education, brain chemicals and prefrontal cortex yet because they haven't existed long enough to have all those skills yet. Her experience has given her good survival skills, just not much experience with the softer more nuanced social skills yet. I think her behavior towards the disguised Queen makes sense based on her life experiences and age. Maybe to us it looks silly, but thinking about it with what she's been through and the fact that she's 14 in mind, her entire story starts to make way more sense. I could ramble all day but I'm not trying to comment even more of a novel than I already have but yeah I really like this story and character and I can't wait to expand on her and fill in some narrative gaps and give context to a bunch of things because I nerd out on storytelling so hard

That's because the magic of "true love's first kiss" is a trope well established in the newer versions of the fairy tales. It's virtually absent from the original iterations. In the original Snow White, the prince just wants to take the glass coffin with the girl with him to be able to revel on her beauty. As they try to load it onto his horse, they accidentally let it fall, and because of the impact, the piece of poisoned apple falls out of her throat and she wakes up. In Sleeping Beauty, the prince (originally a king) doesn't wake her up with a kiss, he r*apes her in her sleep and makes her twins. They are born with her still sleeping. One of them, while trying to find the mother's breast, sucks on her finger and thus sucks out the splinter, which makes her awake. In the Frog Prince, the princess doesn't kiss the frog, she throws him against the wall, which breaks the curse. And so on. All those scenes have been changed into kisses to make them more romantic and palatable.

This change in meaning from *fair as beautiful* and *fair as just/kind hearted* only works in the English language (as far as I know), since fair is an ambiguous word. However, *not in the German original* : "Spieglein, Spieglein an der Wand Wer ist die Schönste im ganzen Land?" literally translates to: "Little mirror, little mirror on the wall who's the most beautiful in all the land?" Unfortunately, back then they probably had to choose "fairest" when translating it so that it would rhyme. I mean yeah SW could go be queen of her stepmother's castle but I'm sure it would hold bad memories for her, and also for Evil Queen to truly die, maybe her queendom/legacy needs to die too. That castle was probably full of all the spooky stuff that would freak SW out too, whilst Prince-Boy has probably got all the fancy newness at his crib. XD

Rachel Zegler should’ve seen this video. But also I think it was a mistake hiring an adult to play a 14 year old. I think the messages you mentioned would’ve come through clearer if it was a young teenager trying to survive her step mother’s wrath and learn to be self sufficient.

Yes, fairytales will fairytale. Something modern people don't get, nor do they get about magic without a system. Back then, magic was magic; it could be good, or it could be bad, or it could be indifferent much like the magical creatures of myth because it represented nature, and its complexity put into a simple form for children in a world where it was common for them to die young. Even teen-hood wasn't a thing till the 1900's.

In all the Grimm fairy tales, the men get ahead by slaying or outwitting monsters, and the women by not letting the monsters darken their good nature. P.S. Sleeping Beauty is about letting people in after serious trauma. Originally, the prince does not fight for her, the thorns fall away before him, because the 100 years are over. He is allowed to enter.

This is something I see for Years at Disney. Every Movie they made since... I would say Beauty and The Beast Live action is ao superficial. If I want to put a Gay Person in a Movie for representation, I write a little Story behind this, not only put Lefou being Gay and thats it. Same goes with Ariel doing her in a different Skin Colour. A Background story behind that would making more sense, as putting different races of Mermaids together as Sisters!

Yes, she was kind, but have you forgotten that when the Queen was younger, the mirror always answered, "You, my queen, are the fairest of them all"? During that time, the Queen wasn’t kind, gentle, or graceful either. *The mirror was speaking purely of physical beauty*. Snow White was only deemed the fairest by the mirror once she reached about 13 or 14 (age varies depending on the version), which was when her beauty surpassed the Queen’s in terms of appearance. If we were talking about both inner and outer beauty, that would mean the Queen-who is shallow-was the most beautiful inside and out until Snow White reached that age. But that doesn’t make sense, given her vanity and cruelty. I might have mixed up the details, though, since I’ve seen and read so many versions of this fairytale, and they tend to blur together. Also, the mirror only tells the truth-it can't lie. It responds based on what is meant by the question. The Queen, being vain, clearly isn’t asking about inner beauty. When she asks, "Who is the fairest of them all?" she’s asking about physical beauty alone. The mirror understands this and answers accordingly. The Queen’s obsession with appearance makes it obvious that she never cared about inner beauty. To me, the story's lesson has always been about comparison. There will always be someone better than you in some way-whether it’s beauty, wealth, or fame. Obsessing over that can make you bitter, and that bitterness can lead to destructive behavior. The Queen couldn’t accept that someone else was more beautiful, and it drove her to try to destroy Snow White, which ultimately led to her downfall.
@Telltalesign2 ай бұрын
cut the story short, snow white is indeed the fairest of them all. Inside and out. But the queen, doesn't care if she's the most beautiful inside, she only cares about physical apperance which makes the plot revolves not in Snow white's inner beauty, but rather her physical beauty. So yeah, it's the plot.

I kind of think the folklore is based of a dream.
