Pony is a delight to watch, I absolutely love her, and I wish more beauty "guru's" were like her. What makes Pony a cut above the rest is that she's a trained makeup artist, and you see this with Lisa Eldridge, Wayne Goss and Charlotte Tilbury, where they are so precise and deliberate; they know what they're doing while beauty guru's don't which is why they're always trying to "reinvent the wheel" so to speak.

Don't know about Asia, but Bobby Brown has a Master Class where she teaches that if you have an even skin, you don't need foundation. Or you can use a small amount of foundation only in places where you need it the most. I do that sometimes, I'll use foundation only on the center of my face, where I have some redness and pores and it looks great, you just have to use the right color for you.

The problem with beauty gurus is that they're, for the most part self taught. Nothing wrong with that, but you can tell the difference between someone who's a professional and has been properly taught and the beauty gurus.
@stinks70652 жыл бұрын
You can also really tell that beauty gurus often do makeup for the same situation. From what I've seen they do a lot of full glam that looks good on camera, so there's a lot of stuff that just doesn't translate to anything else. They're no doubt often creative and have a good grasp on things like colour but it just never feels like something I could or would apply to myself without looking like an absolute clown
@dragonesswings4 ай бұрын
@@stinks7065 This! They are used to working with their face either all the time or most of the time. Vs someone who has worked with all skin tones/types in all different lighting and has a wider grasp on what will work and when. No shade to influencers, but unless you look like them and have a similar body chemistry you can't take their advice at face value- no pun intended

I think a big difference between Koreans and Americans is that Koreans focus and invest a lot in skincare so that they don’t have to use as much makeup. Americans tend to not really think about skincare because it’s not as exciting as makeup (but because of this, they need more makeup to cover their skin). Does that make sense? I don’t know.
@syhas.69784 жыл бұрын
Yes, and i believe it has to do with what you eat as well - like chinese have good skin and hair because of the food and herbs they eat - but like indian/pakistani skin is more prone to acne, has large pores and is oily due to the oily food we eat.

Pony was one of the earliest beauty influencer, I remember she came up around the same time as Michelle Phan but specific to korean blog before jumping to KZbin. I really love her tips. She and Michelle actually encouraged me to take care of my skin in order to get good results with makeup. No need for lasers, surgery, filler or botox. Just basic skin care. Make up should compliment the natural you, not covering you up completely and turn you to someone else. Violette and WayneGoss too. Seriously, stop with the baking and caking for everyday look. I am not into makeup so much but I would never tell anyone to stop baking for their everyday look. If there's a certain way they want to wear their makeup (drag, gore, natural, etc), then so be it. Personally, I only wear very minimal makeup on a daily basis (eyebrow pencil for my sparse brows, concealer for my dark under eye circles, and tinted lip balm for my very pale lips lol). Anyway, just an additional information, baking has been existing for as early as ancient egypt :0 surprising, right?
