Basically the way megumi figured it, he was about to die, so he summoned this thing that he couldn't subjugate so it would kill the other guy, then he would die, THEN THE SHIKIGAMI WOULD DISAPPEAR, so there wouldn't be any collateral damage. It was just like "I'm gonna die, so kill this guy for me and I'll die, then you disappear." The issue is that Sukuna came in and saved them, meaning the creature never disappeared. My guess is Megumi will also be blaming himself for what happened.

And that was ONLY 15 fingers 😅. It’s not what I expected but I think the animators are still doing an outstanding job especially with the conditions they’re under, my heart goes out to them. This episode was insane on so many levels but keep holding your breath, there’s still a lot more to come in this arc.

If you ask me Malevolent Kitchen is more scary sounding than Malevolent Shrine because hearing Malevolent Kitchen makes you quickly realize this domain is going to be all about physical cutting you to pieces and ripping you apart. Malevolent Shrine is more mysterious and vague

Megumi was going to die period at that point. He was going to bleed out, so he said "why not?" basically. So after it killed ponytail (forgot his name) Mahoraga would have disappeared. So Sukuna saved Megumi and demolished the city, instead of letting only Megumi die and saving the city. So in a way, it is torture for both Yugi and Megumi.

What a visually mesmerizing episode! That Mahoraga was a damn problem. It gave Sukuna more of a hard time than Jogo did, which is crazy. Megumi is a mad lad for goin with such a wild kamikaze attack. I guess Fushiguro had some craziness up his sleeve that we didn’t know about. And according to Gojo his potential is crazy. Seeing the capability of Malevolent Shrine was ridiculous. Those poor civilians never stood a chance, but it was unbelievable to see how much of force of nature Sukuna can be. Calling him a menace is an understatement and he’s such a bastard for telling Yuji to savor the chaos and destruction he wreaked. I can see this madness is taking a toll on Itadori, so I hope he’ll be okay as this wild ride progresses. It was so satisfying to see that piece of shit Shigemo finally die, it was about damn time. And my man Nanami is still alive! He needs to see Shoko IMMEDIATELY! Can’t lose him now after giving me hope.

Hey beard, close but not quite. The Ritual requires anyone apart of the ritual to defeat it to subjugate the shikigami. Shikigami can die, like what happened to the Wolf and Snake. During the ritual no one dies until it's finish. That's why Megumi was still alive. Sukuna wasn't apart of the Ritual. Meaning if Sukuna defeats it, the ritual is considered invalid and Megumi doesn't get the credit for beating it. However had Megumi or the other guy beat it, Megumi would be able to control it. Had Sukuna been apart of the ritual when it began, it would have counted as if Megumi beaten it. In the past, the reason Gojo's ancestor and Megumi's died because neither could have beaten that thing. It's not only on par with Sukuna, had Sukuna not use *forbidden* technique, he wouldn't have been able to kill it since Mahogara (not Makora) would have adapted and render him useless. Megumi can perform the ritual multiple times as long as he cancels it or he doesn't die in the process. This is how he unlocks the elephant and can do so with or without help. They must be present at the time of the ritual or it's invalid and need to start over. So Megumi was dangerously low on CE (curse energy) from fighting Dagon, then Toji and finally this guy. He was bleeding out and since Shoko, the doctor, wasn't near by he was either going to die by blood loss or die fighting this guy. It was his final trump card and only played it to guarantee this dude would die too. It was meant to stop Sukuna and kill him as you said back at the detention center. So to be clear, Megumi technically died but due to the ritual it held him at like 1hp preventing him from dying until the Ritual is complete. Had Sukuna not healed Megumi, the moment Sukuna defeated it or if the blonde dude would have died during that fight, Megumi would have died. This is important clarification about animation suspension preventing death. Also, Mahoraga would have disappeared the moment the blonde dude died since that's part of the contract of the Ritual. If Mahoraga would have "died" it would be left at 1 hp and the contract would then be contracted to obey the caster inorder to live. That's why Megumi releases his Shikigami so they don't die like the wolf and snake where he wasn't able to save them. However, their abilities are transferred to another like the divine wolf. Keep these things in mind .

actually no, Mahoraga is pratically a suicide Shikigami, you are only able to use it if you beat it alone, otherwise the ritual will be void, and i dont think someone if the other 9S can really beat Mahoraga

Megumi literally says the subjugation ritual *_can_* be done with multiple people but the subjugation itself will be voided afterwards, so it's " pointless" for the sorcerer to do it with someone else. Meaning he would have to beat it by himself to be able to use it freely. However, although he hasn't subjugated it yet, he can still "use" the shikigami by bringing his opponent into the ritual with him. He knows he can't defeat it as he is, so it's effectively a suicide attack. That's why Gojo told him "*Dying to win* and risking death to win are two different things" back in S1, because Megumi always thought about bringing Mahoraga out at the cost of his life any time shit got tough. He almost summoned it MULTIPLE times in S1. Sukuna said that about nullifying the ritual only because he wanted to save Megumi's life. Otherwise he would've just let Mahoraga kill Shigemo and the ritual would've ended, with him and Megumi dead.

@@Artistikk My bad. I thought he got help later in the manga to subjugate another shikigami but I was mistaken. I know he can perform the ritual all he wants and with the translation errors of Mahorga (makora) to "malevolent kitchen" and filet. I had thought he had gotten help to tame a certain shikigami that is used later. That would explain why Sukuna wouldn't just kill Haruta and bring Megumi back from the dead the way he healed Megumi and Yuji. Its the fastest way to get it done than kill the thing. Similar to what Yuta does later, Sukuna could have done the same. Now there are speculation of the ritual aspect but after scouring the manga it doesn't seem like thats the case. I was wrong about the taming, I thought it was trying to say the same thing Sukuna said about him, outside the contract, defeating it would make it invalid but the translation was off. My bad.
