Yep. But the writing in this episode alone was just flawless and magical. Excellent music. Excellent editing. Excellent acting from Ebon (as well as Olivia Coleman and others). Excellent arc. Just perfect. Let's hope season 3 can somehow live up to the really high bar set by season 2. Tough challenge.

I can't really explain it, but it's so incredibly powerful that the chef-owner of the best restaurant in the world, whose life motto is "every second counts", spends her morning peeling mushrooms because it's "time well spent"

"Everyday here is the freaking Super Bowl" is such a brilliant line. You instantly understand what a big deal this place and that every tiny detail matters like a fork with no streaks.

This for me was one of the best episodes of seasons 2.

After Fishes (which IMO is brilliant), Forks just heals your heart. It gives you a chance to finally breathe.

This episode moved me to tears. The food service industry is crushing, you're a slave to the restaurant, the shifts are long and grueling, and when you're FOH, you gotta do it with a smile. But I'd be lying if I said seeing people smile after their meal doesn't make me smile. Richie has obvious self-esteem issues and that made him try to be the "top dog", the "alpha" at all times, but in this episode he realized serving is noble. Bringing joy to others can bring joy to you, if only you'd let it. And like Richie said in episode 6, he's good with people, he just never had an outlet for it.

The comped meal that they gave to the couple who were teachers probably cost somewhere between $800-1,000. The tasting menu at that specific restaurant (Ever, a real Michelin starred restaurant in Chicago) runs $325 per person, and that doesn't include alcohol or gratuity.

I love you two. I totally agree that the woman who was running the kitchen is going to come back in season 3 - I definitely think they were setting that up and I am here for it.

As always an insightful reaction. Have to admit when I first saw the title of this episode I had a moment of PTSD from Fishes then was amazed to watch how Richie transformed. A wonderfully written and performed episode.

I have a small theory: When the chef says “F@ck you Garrett,” it’s because he knows it was him that left the smudge, and when he gave him a chance to fess up he didn’t.

Knowing such a good actress as Olivia Colman from a shitty show like Secret Invasion is so wrong. Watch Fleabag after you finish The Bear; it's an amazing show, and even tho she doesn’t have a lot of screen time she is great in it. She is also an Oscar winner and nominee; she won an Oscar for "The Favourite” and was nominated for two more Oscar’s. She also won an Emmy for The Crown and was nominated multiple times. The writing on this show is so good, and this episode is so well written, Richie character arc is incredible.

I hated Olivia Colman's character in Fleabag, which is a testament to her acting ability. You don't truly hate a character unless the writing and the acting is top notch, and she's brilliant.

@@pabloc8808 Yeah, I love her as an actress, and I remember when I started the show and she was introduced, I was like, "Oh, Oliva Colman, I love you," and then the episode went on, and I was like, "Ok, I understand now why Fleabga said she is a cunt," and every scene I wanted to punch her. Great writing and acting.
