I bought over 100+ of the most popular books since I've started my reading journey again this year and just 65+ books just this past month... so this calls for a book haul. I did my best to explain each of these titles so you have an idea of what each of these books are about :)

I am new to Contemporary Romance genre this year (2024). But i have read 15 of them. I really love Christina Lauren's books - especially Love and Other Words and The Unhoneymooners. I also liked The Deal by Elle Kennedy (first book in a series), and loved Icebreaker by Hannah Grace (Wildfire is the second book and i am reading it right now. I really liked The Seven Year Slip. I did not like The Beach read (I found the female main character both annoying super repetitive.. she acted like her world was ending every time the male character was quiet or he said something different or even just gave her a different look). The Beach Read was the first book i read by Emily Henry. I do have 2 more to try..

This is the book equivalent of fast fashion. What the heck. Only two minutes in and of the four books you showed us, two are special editions of the first two. This is just another case of overconsumption being glorified. We have real libraries if you want to be around a lot of books. You can check out a reasonably sized pile without spending hundreds of dollars and without cluttering your home. Edit: I’m highly amused. You put something on the internet, you’re going to get opinions. And my opinion is that overconsumption is a problem in every community. If you don’t see it then you don’t see it. All I know is, my life (and wallet) were a whole lot happier when I realized this and become a more conscious consumer. My rule of thumb is to wait a month before buying something that can be classified as a “want.” If I still want it after a month then I will get it. If I only wanted it because it was trendy and/or I thought it would momentarily feel good, then I didn’t really want it. But that’s me. Take it as you will.
@Cheuslove

I really agree that this is overconsumption at it's finest & wonder why this comment isn't higher in the list. Also, why is there a rush to just fill a bookcase, why not take your time and curate your book case and get to know what you actually like, rather than blind buying 100 books..?
@beautiful.life1396
@beautiful.life1396 Ай бұрын
Debbie downer much? You too can reduce over consumption by only buying used items. So please stay out of the stores and buy nothing firsthand, otherwise you are just glorifying over consumption. And a friendly reminder… goods and services make the world go round; so if no one’s purchasing them, then no one‘s going to produce them.

I think a home library is a mixture of storage for your hobby and home decor. It’s no different than buying decor and art for your house. But in this case, the books serve a multipurpose because they are used. And anyone with a hobby likes to organize it or display it…for example, baseball cards, lego sets, art paintings, etc. Readers enjoy reading their favorites multiple times. You live only once; if books in your home make you happy, then that’s what you should buy. You can’t take money to the grave with you.

I agree the overconsumption is a big problem, but she already knows what types of books she wants to read, and she went and bought the books she wanted to have at her home. She doesn’t have a home filled with book like most book tubers, in her case I really don’t see it as a big problem. Let her enjoy her book journey, and lets see how she does with book buying after this big book buy before criticizing her for it.

First of all, sure you can buy books all you want, no problem. But I wonder: Are you buying them just to fill your shelves, or are you genuinely interested in reading all of them? Most of us have at most 10 new unread books at home (according to our TBR), which are going to be read after finishing the current book. Depending on our mood after finishing the current book, we choose one of these 10 books accordingly. Therefore the variety of 10 different books (at most!). Although 10 are plenty, 5 or even 1 are also more than enough. But 100+ books kind of make it seem you buy them for "aestetics" only. Which definitely defeats the purpose of reading at all. Anyway if you are really capable of reading a book a day, then go for it. Finishing 100 books seems like a tough goal. Deactivate your social media to stay focused and get into the reading marathon you planned for yourself regarding these books. Keep reading!

For lit-fic, contemporary, romance and/or as a subplot: - Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter (I rarely ever read YA romance so the fact that I gave this 5 stars, I love them so much). - I Fell In Love With Hope by Lancali (YA) - Anxious People by Fredrik Backman - The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by VE Schwab - Adelaide by Genevieve Wheeler - Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellors - I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman For fantasy I'd recommend: - Strange the Dreamer duology by Laini Taylor - the Elements of Cadence duology, A River Enchanted and A Fire Endless, by Rebecca Ross (she also wrote Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows, the Letters of Enchantment) - Fear the Flames by Olivia Rose Darling - Tres of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Samderson - Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson - the Iron Widow duology by Xiran Jay Zhao - the Radiant Emperor duology, She Who Became the Sun and He Who Drowned the World, by Shelley Parker Chan - She Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh - the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden I hope you've found one or two interesting! There are guides on the interwebs as to how to do the tandem read. A lot of people do like to read the ‘Chronological’ order by reading Assassins Blade first and some people like to read Assassins Blade last. Only you can really make the decision because people will never agree on the ‘best’ order.

Maas series the order I have read them is: Throne of Glass, ACOTAR and Crescent City; it’s important to read CC last because of world build up; but my recommendation would be to read Throne of Glass first bc it’s finished series (for now apparently) and because it will be more clear about some things in other series 😊 and for TOG order read the first two books and then the Assassins blade novela 😊

Sarah J Maas Guide: 1. throne of glass (assasins blade after book 3) and tandem read for book 6 and 7 and then kingdom of ash, 2. acotar 1-5, 3. crescent city But 1. acotar 1-5 and then 2. tog is also alright and crescent city needs to be the last

Also, if you're a fan of fairytale retellings with several different tropes, then a slightly less well-known but perfect series is called A Kinda Fairytale series by Cassandra Gannon! It's really perfect, especially book 3, The Kingpin of Camelot, loved it! Also, get Love Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood! It's one of her best! The Made series is really good but you should get the Book 2 as well, it's the best book in the series, and it's the precursor to Book 3, so it will give you some additional background.

These are some of the things that I tab when I'm annotating a book: plot, romance, sad moments, funny moments, and worldbuilding/location/history. I usually underline quotes that I really like too.😊And read Throne of Glass before Crescent City!👍

I haven't read the Throne of Glass series yet, but from what I've heard from others; Don't read assassin's blade first, the story over all will have less of an emotional impact if you do, and it becomes less interesting. Assassin's blade kind of explains alot of Aelin's actions and decision making in the first 2/3 books, you could almost say it "spoils" the first couple of books. I'd say read it as 3rd or 4th. Also, as for Tower of Dawn and Empire of Storms, they take place during the same time, but from totaly different perspectives. I'd recommend either first reading Tower of Dawn, and then Empire of Storms second, because Empire of Storms end off on a huge cliffhanger. OR read them both at the same time. 👍

I agree! I originally read it first and I regretted it. I left the series for 6 months and came back to it this year. Although I had knowledge of the book, I really appreciated reading it after HOF. It felt like I was reading the last 2 stories for the first time!

For the Throne of Glass series, I'd recommend reading it as Throne of Glass followed by Crown of Midnight and then read Assassin's Blade also I highly recommend you do the tandem read for the Tower of Dawn and Kingdom of Ash or you might not like the final two books as they are meant to be read together. Also, I'd recommend Throne of Glass be read before A Court of Thorns and Roses series and then the Cresent City series. I hope I was able to help.

Love this for you! The Cruel Prince series is my fave! Some recs: Spark of the Everflame series by Penn Cole, Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh, The Bridge Kingdom Series by Danielle L Jensen, The Winter King by CL Wilson, The Wall of Winnipeg and me by Mariana Zapata, The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. HAPPY READING!

Other fantasy series I suggest are the Caraval trilogy, fantasy set in a sort of circus and it also has romance, and the Nevernight trilogy. Nevernight is an epic fantasy so it has a heavier worldbuilding and it’s more difficult to get into, but it’s really worth it

Six of Crows and One Dark Window are fantastic!! So many good books for you to read… For thrillers I would highly recommend checking out the authors Riley Sager and Lisa Jewell, and if you ever want to get into horror check out Grady Hendrix and Paul Tremblay!

I recommend "Never Lie" by Frieda McFadden and the Mindf*ck Series. They are both 5 star reads for me and I feel like you will love them. Never lie has such great twists in it that made me not want to put the book down and The Mindf*ck series has 5 books in it but they are all in one big book with the 5 books in it because each book in the series is only about 150 pages each. Each book in the series gets better and better and I highly recommend it. The Silent Patient is also a really really good 5 star thriller.

EEK I'm so excited for you yay!! Personally, I read the Assassin's Blade 3rd after Crown of Midnight, I think it worked well then or possibly 2nd but it's better to read Throne of Glass first to actually have more interest in the story and its more fun storyline that way I think. I have yet to read the Crecent City series but as far as I am aware you are to read Throne of glass before Crecent City. Some book recs I have girly: Better than the movies - Lynn Painter Betting on you - Lynn Painter One of us is lying - Karen M Mcmanus Daisy Jones and the six - Taylor Jenkin's Reid (pretty much anything from Taylor Jenkin's Reid tbh I love her)

Throne of Glass Reading Order Help :) I read assassin’s blade third (after Crown of Midnight) and the way it was written it just spots in so well when reading I would 100% recommend that in Throne of Glass and not first because there are some things that aren’t meant to be known for the mystery and there is a little gap between the two books for assassins blade to slot into; this is called the “standard” read. The romantic read puts it fourth after Heir of Fire, the chronological order puts it first if you love reading like that, and then reading it second is of course up to you, but books 1 and 2 smoothly transition into the other. Of course it is all personal preference. I would also recommend the tandem read (best chose of my life) for Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn. Just look up the tandem read and you can find pictures, bookmarks, and so on to help you complete the tandem read. This is my favorite series (I have also read ACOTAR) and I hope you love it too!! Just let me know if you have more questions and I hope this helped!

Not sure if someone else answered this. The reason one book is bigger is because in the first year of publication in Australia a book is printed in that large size. After it's first year/ish of its print run they release it as the small size :)

if you haven't read *A Good Girl's Guide to Murder* , YOU NEED TO TRY IT. (It's the best thriller book) *Light Lark and Night Bane* Such a cool fantasy duology! You should also buy the entire *The Inheritance Games* series! And if you're willing to cry on a romance book, I would definitely recommend the *You've reached Sam* (My eyes were swollen from crying)

If you didn't like Shatter Me, don't try to like it just because someone else is loving it. Me including. I am head over heals in for this series. But it's because I love strong psychological stories. I am viewing it from psychology perspective. I love how realistically author made the psychic problems. Juliette will torment herself and in future books, but I just loved the growth. How author showed actual problems a person can face when trying to change their world and after reading first book I wanted to see Warner's perspective on why he was a lunatic he was shown in first book 😁 Now I am on fourth book and I somehow feel closer to Warner. But it's just because I am 38 years old and I understand what he is going through. Also, it helps a lot to remind yourself that they are teenagers of 17 to 19 years old and they do not think like an adults. That being said - read books only you like. I DNFed books over million people is going crazy about. Having taste is not a bad thing 😉
