For me, I always assumed products being sold on the market would be safe. Beauty magazines would rank all time best products of the year and I'd soak in all that info, thinking these were the best that I could use. It wasn't until I became pregnant and searched for the things I should avoid eating while pregnant that I stumbled across a list of personal care products I should avoid while pregnant. This included perfume, makeup, and anti-aging products with retinol. This was my eye opener. If these "awesome" and "effective" products contained things I needed to avoid while pregnant, why would it be ok to use them after pregnancy? I started looking more into my options, but it's the birth of my youngest with sensitive skin that led me to join Beautycounter. The effects of ingredients in products are real and I don't want to contribute to negatively affecting my children's health. I agree with the mission and want to do all I can to help support it and make sure everyone else knows about this, too.

Find a consultant and ask for samples if you are wary...I have a client who is a full-on Melaluca person and she loves BC and Melaluca. We spoke yesterday and I am interested in their toothpaste which BC doesn't have. But the reality is that we aren't competing with them...personally I like the scent of BC products (no fragrance added which I am certain is an ingredient in some melaluca products because my masseuse is a rep and let me read some labels when I asked.) try some creams and some makeup and see for yourself. I have plenty of clients who want to try before investing and I totally respect that. I'm the same way since I have sensitive skin and HATE certain scents.
