I get you. I dropped out within weeks of uni. I developed a tic disorder in a day there that stuck ever since. I've technically 'not done anything' as in get a job or extra education since December. I'm applying for benefits. It's tough but essentially it's down to our happiness and what paths work and which don't. I'm really happy you made it through the course and I wish you all the best with your channel- I'm loving it at the moment! Trying to build mine up! I barely had the choice to drop out. My lecturers thought I was too unfit mentally and physically and it broke me for so long. But I tried, I got the experience even if it was very negative. I'm not sat here wondering what it was like. It's not really spoken about openly, those who drop out and are left in the open with not much guidance since leaving school and uni but I hope that will change.

Thank you for sharing this. I left college half way through because we moved house plus i hated the college i was at and applied to a short course in london so i could work on a portfolio to get on a foundation course. Then the pandemic happened and my course got cancelled everything was online and i just couldn't cope. I changed what i wanted to do 100 times, even planned to go to a cookery school which i was so excited for then got stomach problems where i have to eat a restrictive diet so that went wrong as well :(. The past two years i've been lost and so down. All my friends have gone to uni and i have become lonely, no one talks about having no friends if you don't go to uni. Luckily i have now found a distance learning foundation course which means i can do it along side a job, meeting new friends and going on multiple holidays (when we can travel again.) Once i've done that i can complete my degree online or have the choice of uni. I am slightly worried as i'll be 21 if i do go and will be older. I'm glad i have more options and freedom now. No one talks about if you don't want to go to uni or what you can do instead. Like you i love going out but not every night plus with my stomach issues i can't drink. I think i would feel isolated.

omg, don't feel guilty for doing what you love !!!!! i'm currently on summer break from UNI the past two summer I've done freelance work doing websites, social media, graphic, etc . the number of people telling that it isn't a job and that i should get a "proper" job is mad . just because as you said what i'm doing isn't a traditional job and what your doing isn't a traditional job either so please just keep doing it . i feel like they're always going to people telling you not to do this stuff and its probably be scared and they don't understand it. sorry for my two long comments. it's just being brother me alot lately !!!

Currently about to graduate from a 3 year course at Durham uni and I hated it all. Cannot wait to finish!
@sophian25575 жыл бұрын
Hi can I ask what you didn’t like? I’m supposed to be going to durham this year for a BA in classics but I’m really not sure.
@StudentBlogLife5 жыл бұрын
@@sophian2557 I struggled with the social side of things. It's all collegial which can be hard because there's a lot going on all the time, so it depends whether you like being around people a lot or not and also who you're put with in halls (there is probably the option to change if you're struggling early on, keep that in mind). The work load is pretty intense because the terms are so short so I struggled a lot with that, but if you go in knowing that you can kind of put measures in place to get the work done in advance. I do English lit and Philosophy and found there wasn't much departmental support in terms of academic advisors or anything so you're left to your own devices a lot. I know a lot of people in other universities who have similarly bad experiences though so I wouldn't say it's directly Durham itself, but there are a few things (as i've mentioned) that could definitely be improved. If you like the content of the degree and you choose a college that you think you'll be happy in (in terms of catering and gowns, etc) then I think don't be put off and go for it. But if you're not happy definitely seek out support and see what your options are! Good luck! My twitter is @studentbloglife if you want to chat about it any more depth!

I did a very similar thing for my foundation degree, I focused on how people possessions can express a lot about they owners and then I progressed to outfits, shop keepers in their shops as straight type portraits and students in their bedrooms. You've done it a heck of a lot better than I did though! I struggled to explore and build on my work.

Bravo. Wonderful video. Your art project proves how important family is to our young people. And how being separated is not good for anyone. Well done. I would love to show this piece to my MP and Local Council. How I would love to hear how you are getting on. It's good to be different. You have a big following on You Tube, well done. My daughter wants to do an Art Foundation course, with a view to going to Art University. Problem is she does not want to be pushed into drawing/painting life models with no clothing on. She would like her Art Portfolio to mirror who she is, not what this world wants us to be. Being a children's illustrator would not require anyone to draw naked images. So why is it pushed on students? We know an amazing artist that did not need to go down the life modelling route. Her Art Education Complaint is on my You Tube Channel. Personally, I feel there is far too much written work, and not enough ART. And Art, music and film does not show children or women in a good light, and puts us in danger. Unisex toilets are a nightmare in some cases. It would be nice if children and women were promoted as people with brains, and not objects, and our voices actually got heard.

I’m doing a btec photography course at college and for my FMP I have done bedrooms as well what are the chances 😂😂 I have once question why ddI u decide to do a art course when you could of done photography and more (I don’t know if you have answered this only half way through the video)
@LissyFantage015 жыл бұрын
I don’t see many photography foundation courses around as art foundation courses are VERY broad and cover graphics, photography, fine art, architecture. This is because university foundation courses are there to help a student decide what uni course you want to do afterwards. Hope this helps with your question as I’m guessing it was probably so she could see what she actually wanted to do in the end :)

I did my art foundation diploma level 3 years ago and never went uni for a degree in anything. What jobs can you do with art foundation if you don’t have a degree?
@MollyThompsonx_4 жыл бұрын
None specifically I don’t think unless you go freelance/set up in business but I decided against getting a degree in general because that route just wasn’t for me & doing social media full time was what was making me happiest!x

@@MollyThompsonx_ few reasons I never went to uni. 1. I dont feel clever enough and being in the routine of going to classes, doing assignments and endless revision for exams I was done with that. 2.I don't feel like paying back stupid amount of money in debt once you finish. I've only got level 3 diplomas in art and I.T but never went on to degree levels. I've always wondered what uni life be like if I went

It is a level 4 course (alevels and btecs are level 3). Level 4 is equivalent to the first year of study at uni and then level 5 is the second and 6 is the third year. So it is at a lower level than a full degree, which is level 6, but still a step up from a levels.
@MollyThompsonx_5 жыл бұрын
So mine was assessed at Level 4, I’m not sure if I confused you haha, it’s a step up from A Level but assessed 2 levels below a degree xx
