For cakes, a suggestion, chill in the fridge between the different layers of icing. also chill icing in the piping bag so that your hands warm it up slower. Looks great though, awesome improvising!

My mom was a professional decorator at a local bakery for six years before I was born and has taught me a lot. Your icing was too thick to do the Rosetts. You can always use powdered sugar to make it thicker or (preferred) use an easy recipe for homemade butter cream. We usually do one cup of crisco and one cup of softened butter to a 2lbs bag of powdered sugar with one teaspoon of vanilla and milk one TBs at a time to thin it out it usually takes four or five more if it’s dry out less if it’s humid. Also remember to always twist your pastry bag. You should have the bulk of the icing and bag twisted to the shape of a tear drop with the round bulb part in your dominant hand. You will squeeze from there and guide with your non dominate. Everything turned out so beautiful at Ellas party 💕

hi! so im a specialty cake decorator, 3 tips! first the icing scraper you are using should be held the opposite way, but also it looks very thick, try finding a thinner plastic icing scraper. second tip, when squeezing an icing bag, try not to squeeze from the top, hold it with enough icing that fits in the palm of your hand and twist off the bag. basically trying to squeeze just a palm sized amount vs trying to squeeze a full bag of icing is a huge difference! lastly, the rosette detailing you were trying to do is normally done with at least a 1M decorating tip, it wont fit on a coupler. just put it right into the decorating bag. the correct size tip plus squeezing less volume of icing at a time with give you the perfect rosette!!!

If it's any consolation; I took a decorating class and my hands get hot when doing the piping. I was always having to take a break and put the icing in the freezer for a few minutes. This does help some.

Cakes are challenging to decorate. I've found that placing your cake stand on a lazy susan helps a lot! It allows for a more fluid motion while dispersing the icing with your icing tool. It still looked great!

I've done similar parties and I can say that it does all add up. I suggest buying little by little leading up to the party. She already had some of the items that she mentioned so, that is something we can do to. Save items from previous parties to reuse. It was an awesome party theme !

Yes I second this! Buy as much as you can in advance especially if it’s on sale. This way you won’t be so overwhelmed doing everything at once and paying for things at full price bc your in a time crunch and have no other choice. ❤️
