A trail camera is placed close to the ground, next to a short canal that beavers have dug on the side of a pond dam in Richland County, South Carolina. The video shows how many different animals use the canal for various purposes and why beavers are considered keystone species.

Wow Hunter! I couldn't stop watching. Love that Beaver but I think he is trying to break into the other side of the dam. Keystone Beaver indeed. Wildlife there is abundant. when the snow came, I think those black birds ( Grackles ?) were partying at the new canal. Thanks for posting this video.

You're welcome and many thanks for watching and for the comment! Yes I think those black birds were mostly grackles and there seems to be more than the usual number of birds around this winter. I guess because it's been unusually cold this year and more birds than usual have moved south for the winter.

Are you saying you are busy as a beaver? I often heard people say that back when I was a kid in Florida …😊

They sometimes keep me pretty busy. They never give up and they are extra motivated by rainy weather. We will eventually have some kind of beaver proof pond drains, I hope.

Thank you for the “show “. Man, I have never seen a real, live beaver. A couple of those sure were fat. Maybe about to have babies?? The other video where some beavers worked so hard building a dam then it all had to be cleared made me feel sorry for them.

Those fat looking beavers might be pregnant. I'm not sure. I wouldn't feel sorry for them as I clear their hard work from pond drains almost daily, and it never seems to discourage them. The irony is both me and the beavers have the same goal, which is to keep as much water in the neighborhood as possible. Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment!
