Thanks for the drone footage. The water behind that large dam you opened has really dropped. Even so there is still a lot of water there. It looks like you could go back and open it some more as the beavers have started rebuilding it.

That was nice and easy to get done. Not much time for it to settle in. I'd say you need a trapper to thin the beaver out.

Mantas, what is the status of your excavator, and when do you think you will get it? Once you get it, will you be able to remove more dams than just using your hand tools? I wish you all the best!
@Kenislovas
@Kenislovas Жыл бұрын
Status is 13% now :) So still I need about 85%. Then will see. Some of dams still with hands and most of them by new tool. :)

I was wondering if any hiker would be permitted to walk these fields and experience the waterways. Mmm, likely farmers concider people walking around will damage crops or worse fall in the warer. It appears to be a heck of a huge region to just make plans for a few hours of walking. Again another enjoyable video, thanks from Atlantic Canada

when it dries out do a little control burn on sticks@ grass , plenty of water , get cousins to help, maybe the smell of smoke will make the beavers move on

We can't burn anything in nature... Except fire places.

The mystery of beavers using new material might be solved by noticing that beavers like to FLOAT materials to the dam via the watercourse. That means they will prefer to get stuff from upstream. Materials on the bank next to the dam or below it are much less useful to them because they can't float it--it's a lot more work to move it and more difficult to place it properly. If they had no other options, then they would recycle old materials. We could try an experiment, and put some of the bits and bobs pulled from the dam upstream a little, to see if they grab the old materials? Not sure how you would be able to tell, but it might be kinda fun, eh?
@Kenislovas
@Kenislovas Жыл бұрын
Very nice insight! I will try to make it in future video!
@Thea_MojaveOutliersWhipmakers
@Thea_MojaveOutliersWhipmakers Жыл бұрын
@@Kenislovas Haha, I just thought of something else. When you pile the material from the dam on the bank, you make a big tangled up mess, much like the dam itself. So the beavers might be thinking that's "part of the dam" and so they don't pull on it. Instead, they go for loose material, or material that isn't crowded and tangled up. ??

Told you sir, use an excavator if the beaver is always repairing tha dam on the same place so you can remove it completely. I know, your content is "Manual Removal" but if the beavers are too much you should use a machine to remove dams on the same spot.

Burn the building material I mean all wood that beavers bring to build a dam don't leave it like that near the dam, there won't be any result, because beavers will build dam again and again
@Kenislovas
@Kenislovas Жыл бұрын
Hi! From my experience most of the dams are not rebuilt. Only several from many. Also in my country burn wood somewhere in nature is not allowed.
