Hey there, nice job. A little tip, I think opening the middle is good, but if you also make an opening (just big enough to make the water flow) at either side of the dam the erosion from that will make it easier to get more of it down.

You should lay a chain in that channel that you cut in, that way when the beavers rebuild the dam, next time you come out to break it, just bring a come-a-long. Attach it to a tree, and pull the whole thing out at once. Take care and stay blessed.

I admire and salute your strengh, attention & maintenance of tools, persistence, and general physical effort the good Reverend spends on removing these beaver dams. Post 10 may be the originator, but that rake of his don't compare to a good potato rake, or a grand one such as yours. Salutes are due. But why oh why spend so much energy on cleaning up the lower falls? What's it gain us? It makes the fall cleaner, smoother, prettier, but does it in any way increase the flow down the chanel? No. Seems the only ways to increase the release is to lower the topmost restraint and/or to widen the top, (and you do a great job at both - but only when you're up there at the top). Yanking at the bottom, particularly Spiveywise goin' sideways or even upstream, appears a waste of time and a seepage of your energy, for no particular purpose (other than aesthetics), whilst all the time not spent up top just inexorably decreases our discharge rate. Do the right thang - Straighten up and fly right. Sincerely, etc... p.s.: I also like your Pick Up, bicycle, trailer, machete, the farming vids, the power saws, (particularly that little one handed one. Gets the job done). Keep on Keepin' on, Sir.
