Hello,
I've tried to use some new tool to open the dam. It's kind of project for the future. After I make hole in the dam, I can put the pipe inside the dam and reduce the water.
Also new thing camera downstream.

Enjoy guys!

I'd also recommend drilling some holes low down so it undermines the dams integrity and like the higher holes allows water pressure to begin to break it up

I am very happy that you took my suggestion of drilling a hole in the dam about two feet below the top so that the power of the water would help you open up the dam. You might also try using a pick axe to chip away at the dam instead of your rake.

OMG. How could I NOT contribute to you after this video! I never imagined you'd be able to build the drill yourself. That was really creative. But yes, it did do exactly what it was supposed to. Since the drill bit isn't very wide you need to put quite a few holes from the bottom of the dam up torwards the middle. The hope is that when you pull the top down (if it doesn't collapse by itself) that the holes will make it so the rushing water erodes the bottom of the dam out without you having to dig. Or, at least, dig nearly as much. You did a fantastic job digging on this one, both in making it deep in in widening it. Thanks - this was really enjoyable to watch!

I have had beaver in my SW Wisconsin stream. I welded a chain hook to a rebar and could then poke the rebar through the dam near the bottom and then fasten a chain to it and pull the chain back through the dam and then wrap the chain around the dam and cut it in two with the chain. a tractor is handy for this phase but a come along or winch might work. Cutting the dam into two or three sections the sections can then be removed more easily. Good luck, I enjoy your videos.

Mantas, first congrats on 27k subscribers. Your drill idea is brilliant! Keep thinking and creating and it'll pay dividends! Enjoyed showing the progress of the culvert as you were working away. I realize this isn't always feasible for you, but it added a relatable perspective between your work and where the result was going. When you showed the "20 minutes later" I was stunned! That may be your fastest draining yet. Keep up the great work!

Garden folk may be able to work it's way better through the mud and sticks then the spade. Spade moved a lot when water was flowing fast. As for the screw idea place a pipe with wings that grabs the blockage and use a winche to pull the dame down. Just my thoughts

You might think of renting or leasing a small. stand-up excavator with a claw basket. This would allow you to clear a wider gap more quickly and also quote the land owner a price for clearing the downed trees further upstream. The excavator would also allow you to clear the spoil to the bank instead of letting it flow downstream to clog other narrow gaps or culverts. It would also keep you out of dangerous moving water. If I lived near you, I would make at least part of that investment.

Nope not true. Watch Post 10's videos. He pulls the whole dam apart and within a day they always come back. There are some dams he has been pulling apart for years and they still come back. Only thing that stops them is being trapped. Well in the areas he films anyway.
@markgagnon7029
@markgagnon7029 Жыл бұрын
The dams need to be completely removed and it takes more than once. Also post10 unclogs culverts blocked by nature and beavers. There is a clear difference. Beavers will give up when they have to build a new dam. They won’t when they just have to clog a pipe.

@@Me-qp8vz As others have pointed out, Post 10 unclogs culverts and he only clears dams where they are causing damage to the roads. If you watch MsTech86 who is employed to remove dams in very similar areas of countryside/terrain (Poland), you will see that he removes practically every scrap of the dams. (And he doesn't send a ton of sticks downstream). There's another YT channel, Gene Plumley, based in Canada who is also employed to remove dams and he removes everything as well.
